Video: 12 Soviet songs that became more popular than the films in which they were performed

These songs have long lived their own lives and have become so popular that they are rightfully considered legends of Soviet culture. However, few people will remember that for the first time they sounded in films that, for one reason or another, could not repeat the success of the soundtracks. Perhaps the reason for this was that in the era of the USSR, the best poets and composers were involved in writing compositions to the paintings, well, or history, as they say, simply "did not go".
Wizard-dropout
The song, which has become a certain hallmark of the young Alla Pugacheva, appeared thanks to the creative tandem of Alexander Zatsepin and Leonid Derbenev. Everyone seems to know about this. But did you know that in 1976 the poet and composer composed “The Wizard-Dropout” especially for the children's fairy tale “Brave Shirak”, filmed at “Tajikfilm”. It is interesting that one of the scriptwriters Arkady Inin did not like the composition at all, and he was sure that the work would not become a hit. But, as you understand, the song just started its way separately from the film, and now very few people can talk about the latter. recall.
Love alone is to blame
And again Alla Borisovna, and the song from the film, which has become very popular, and the duet of Alexander Zatsepin and Leonid Derbenev. This time they crossed paths in the movie "The Center from the Heavens", which premiered in 1977. All the songs in the film for the heroine of Lyudmila Suvorkina Nina were performed by Pugacheva. Although it was originally planned that the singer herself would play this role. But, firstly, she was not yet so famous then. And, secondly, Alla Borisovna was considered too adult for the heroine. But the song "Love alone is to blame" became a real hit, which cannot be said about the picture.
Where does childhood go?
The tandem of Pugacheva, Zatsepin and Derbenev turned out to be so successful that these talented people have more than one hit, and Where Childhood Goes can be considered one of the main ones. Again, the film "Vesnukhin's Fantasies" by the Odessa Film Studio turned out to be a passing one, but many listeners still love the song performed by Alla Borisovna.
How young we were
Many people think that the song "How Young We Were" was written specifically for the performances of Alexander Gradsky. But this is not the case. The composition, which became legendary, was asked to compose Alexandra Pakhmutova and Nikolai Dobronravov for the film "My love in the third year". Can't remember this picture? No wonder. The work of "Kazakhfilm" did not win much love from the audience, which cannot be said about the soundtrack, which in 1977 was marked on "Song of the Year-77". By the way, initially the composition was written for female vocals, and it was to be performed by Elena Kamburova. But sound engineer Viktor Babushkin asked to sing the work of Alexander Gradsky. Pakhmutova did not know him before, and at first she did not like the artist. However, after the composer changed her mind.
The little Prince
In 1968, a children's fairy tale "A Passenger from the Equator" was released, and the song "The Little Prince" was performed in it, which instantly became a hit. And it could not be otherwise: the creative tandem of the poet Nikolai Dobronravov and the composer Mikael Tariverdiev, no doubt, could only produce a masterpiece. In the picture, the song was performed by Tatyana Pokrass, but she is familiar to many from the performances of Elena Kamburova. Unfortunately, the film itself could not boast of a wild success.
Fortune Teller
"What can I say, what can I say, people are arranged this way …" - words that are known to everyone. Composer Maxim Dunaevsky can rightfully consider this composition, written together in Leonid Derbenev, one of the best works. And it was created specifically for the film "Ah, vaudeville, vaudeville …", which was released in 1980. It is interesting that many songs sounded in the film, including "Oh, this evening", and the director Georgy Yungvald-Khilkevich believed that it was he who would become a hit. But, as it turned out, he did not succeed in surpassing the success of The Fortune Teller. It cannot be said that the film turned out to be unsuccessful, but, for example, film critic Alexander Fedorov believed that he was remembered precisely thanks to the wonderful music of Maxim Dunaevsky and the voice of Zhanna Rozhdestvenskaya, who performed the hit that became timeless.
"City flowers" and "Everything will pass"
Georgy Yungvald-Khilkevich, Maxim Dunaevsky and Leonid Derbenev collaborated more than once. So for the film "Where Will He Go", filmed in 1981, the director asked him to write songs from already proven authors. They also composed as many as seven compositions, of which "City flowers" and "Everything will pass" won particular popularity among the audience. They were performed by Mikhail Boyarsky, and he was accompanied by Lyudmila Larina from the Festival ensemble.
Do you believe me?
"… or not? Of course, I believe you …”- words that need no introduction. The song itself, which still does not have one official name, was written by the composer Alexander Rybnikov and the poet Igor Kokhanovsky for the children's science fiction adventure film "The Great Space Travel" in 1974. It is interesting that for the project, several songs were created at once, which were originally performed by VIA "Veselye Fyatyata". Immediately after the premiere of the film, compositions from it were released on separate discs, and in the same year their circulation exceeded 100 thousand copies.
Argo
In 1986, director Yevgeny Ginzburg decided to shoot not just a film, but a musical. And he chose a well-known theme for him - the Greek world about the Argonauts who went for the Golden Fleece. This is how the "Merry Chronicle of a Dangerous Journey" appeared. What is the main thing in musicals? Songs, of course. And they, invented by the composer Alexander Basilaya and the poet Yuri Ryashentsev, turned out to be so good that in 1987 a gramophone record was released, which included 12 tracks from the film. And, of course, "Argo" became the most recognizable and beloved among listeners.
Forest deer
This song by Yevgeny Krylatov and Yuri Entin has become the hallmark of Aida Vedishcheva. Probably, the audience loved the composition so much for its lightness and a sense of a magical atmosphere. However, nowadays very few people will remember that the hit was first performed in the children's film "Oh, this Nastya!" The same cannot be said about "Forest Deer", which is considered one of the most famous children's songs. True, although the composition in the film is performed by Aida Vedishcheva, another performer seems to be singing it on the screen.
Snow is falling
The film "Dima Gorin's Career" starred only beginning careers Alexander Demyanenko, Vladimir Vysotsky and other actors. The film premiered in 1961, but critics did not appreciate it. Moreover, many of them praised the acting, but they did not like the plot itself. The most interesting thing is that the song "Snow is Coming", composed by composer Andrey Eshpai and poet Yevgeny Yevtushenko and performed by Maya Kristalinskaya, was called "vulgar". Who would have thought that the composition that sounded during the frame with the New Year's feast would become so popular. Moreover, Andrei Eshpai himself recalled that after reading the script about Siberian builders, he wrote a simple melody and gave it to young Evgeny Yevtushenko, who immediately wrote the words.

It is known that Charlie Chaplin most often on the set did without such a boring thing as a script, most of his tricks were invented "on the fly."
