On April 8, Soviet actor Nikita Mikhailovsky could have turned 55, but he has been dead for 28 years. All-Union popularity brought him the main role in the film "You never dreamed of …", which was called the story of Soviet Romeo and Juliet. In the early 1980s. this film became a cult movie, but it might not have been released at all - the script was not approved at the artistic council for a long time, and the ending had to be rewritten …
This film was based on the story of Galina Shcherbakova. Before that, none of her works had been published, but this story was published in the magazine "Youth", the circulation of which scattered instantly. At the same time, the title "You never dreamed of it" appeared - before publication, the story was called "Roman and Yulka". The idea to the writer was prompted by a real-life incident: her tenth-grader son climbed the drainpipe to his beloved on the 6th floor, left her a note on the balcony, and then began to descend, and in the middle of the way the pipe fell apart and the boy fell down. Fortunately, there were no serious injuries.
It was not decided to publish the story right away - the editor of "Yunost" Boris Polevoy had doubts on this score, about which he told the writer: "". The fact is that in the first version of the story, the main character died, and on the advice of the editor Shcherbakov, she rewrote the ending: it could now be interpreted so that after falling from a height, Romka simply lost consciousness. After that, the story was published. The consequences were unexpected: schoolchildren sent letters of gratitude to the writer, and teachers - angry responses: they say, tenth graders should be interested not in personal relationships, but in study and social work!
There were also problems with the adaptation of the story. The script fell into the hands of the famous actress and teacher Tamara Makarova, the wife of director Sergei Gerasimov, and she made every effort to put it into operation. But when the director Ilya Fraz turned to the State Film Agency with this script, he unexpectedly ran into difficulties. The verdict was unambiguous: "". After that, the main character had to be renamed Katya. Despite the fact that the writer changed the ending of the story, it still seemed to the artistic council too gloomy, and it had to be redone again: in the book, the main character intentionally throws himself out of the window, and in the film he accidentally stumbled and fell down. At the request of the readers, already during the filming, the finale was softened as much as possible: Roman fell into a large snowdrift, and Katya ran up to him and tried to help him up, but fell next to him. In this interpretation, the ending sounded not tragic, but life-affirming.
The actors approved for the main roles, at first glance, looked like a very strange couple: Tatyana Aksyuta at that time was already 23 years old, she had already graduated from GITIS and got married, and 16-year-old Nikita Mikhailovsky was still in school. Galina Shcherbakova said: "".
Tatyana Aksyuta recalled: "".
Various actresses applied for the role of Katya's mother, Ada Rogovtseva came from Kiev especially for auditions, but the director answered evasively to all applicants. Later, he admitted that he initially saw only Irina Miroshnichenko in this role, but the actress at that time was undergoing treatment in the hospital after the accident, and Fraz was just stalling with the samples, waiting for her to recover and be able to come to the shooting. Irina Miroshnichenko recalled: "".
Immediately after the release of the film, the director received a storm of criticism: he was accused of promoting debauchery and love in adolescence, of vulgarity and immorality. And among the audience, the film was incredibly popular and became a cult. In 1981, he became the leader of the box office, it was watched by 26 million viewers, he was recognized as the best film of the year according to the results of a poll among readers of the magazine "Soviet Screen". In the same year, he won a prize at the All-Union Film Festival in Vilnius and received the Second Prize for the best children's film. In 1982, Tatiana Aksyuta was awarded the Honorary Diploma for Best Actress at the International Film Festival in Portugal.
10 years after the release of the film, which made Nikita Mikhailovsky a real star, the actor was diagnosed with leukemia. The money for the operation was collected by the whole world, thanks to the help of friends and fans, he was sent to a clinic in London, but, unfortunately, all the efforts of the doctors were in vain: in 1991, at the age of 27, Nikita Mikhailovsky passed away.
The early departure of a young, talented, full of energy, promising actor for many of his colleagues and fans was a real shock. Tatyana Aksyuta recalled: "".
Unfortunately, the actress who played the main role soon disappeared from the screens: How was the fate of Tatyana Aksyuta.
