March 16 marks 83 years of the wonderful actor, director, screenwriter Sergey Yursky … In his filmography there are more than 80 film roles, but one of the most striking works was the role of Uncle Mitya in the film. "Love and pigeons" … The episodes with the participation of this actor in fact should have been much more, and the film itself could have become a two-part film, but director Vladimir Menshov had to cut out many frames criticized by the censors for immorality and "humiliation of the dignity of ordinary collective farmers."
The idea to shoot a lyrical comedy came from Vladimir Menshov after he saw a performance based on the play by Vladimir Gurkin on the stage of the Sovremennik Theater. Later, the director admitted: "". Almost all the characters had real prototypes: he wrote the characters of Nadyukha and Vasily from his parents, Uncle Mitya - from his grandfather, Baba Shura - from his grandmother's sister, Kuzyakins - the real name of his neighbors, the plot itself was also "spied" from the life of relatives …
Menshov was struck by Nina Doroshina, who played the role of Nadia in the play, and although he later invited Lyubov Polishchuk to audition for this role, Doroshina turned out to be more organic anyway. Subsequently, in this image, the actress took the stage for more than 20 years. Nina Doroshina was practically the oldest on the set - she was about 50 at that time, while Baba Shura was actually 10 years younger than her. "Grandfather" Sergei Yursky was only 48. They were a couple not only on the screens, but also in real life - the actors got married in 1970 and lived together for almost 50 years.
They searched for a location for filming for a long time, traveled to dozens of villages, but in the end they found a "Siberian village" in Karelia, in Medvezhyegorsk. The house of the main characters was rented from the real owners for the duration of filming, everything was paved with wood, as in Siberia, a veranda was attached and a dovecote was built. In 2011, after a fire, this house was demolished, now in its place is a new cottage. And the area where the heroes of the film danced a square dance was dismantled by local residents for firewood and boards for sheds. Resort scenes were filmed in Batumi, however, the heroes had a hard time: the shooting took place in November, and they had to swim in water with a temperature of only 14 degrees. At the same time, pyrotechnics and illuminators heroically splashed alongside, depicting vacationers.
Filming was completed in December 1983, but viewers only saw the film a year later. At the artistic council, the painting was rejected for several positions at once. At that moment, the anti-alcohol campaign was in full swing, and the first requirement was to cut out all the scenes where the heroes were drinking. The role of Uncle Mitya was immediately reduced almost completely, many comic episodes dropped out. Menshov refused to make changes, and he was removed from editing. "", - said the director.
Nevertheless, at the artistic council, the film was still destroyed. Even at the stage of approving the script, Menshov was accused of immorality and the promotion of alcoholism. The verdicts were harsh: "".
Another member of the artistic council stated: "". The director was given the following recommendations: "".
There would be enough material for two episodes, but many episodes still had to be cut. Unfortunately, they were not preserved - the film was destroyed, all negatives were washed away. Alexander Mikhailov, who played the main role in the film, said: "".
35 years have passed since the filming of the film. The fates of the actors who starred in it developed in different ways: some of them soon disappeared from the screens. Then and now: 9 famous actors of the favorite movie "Love and Doves".
