Since filming film by Alexei Korenev "Big Change" 45 years have passed, but it still does not lose popularity and is deservedly considered a classic of Soviet cinema. Today it is difficult to imagine other actors in the lead roles, and in fact almost all the characters were originally supposed to be played not by those whom the audience saw on the screens. And the filming process itself was very difficult.

The literary basis of the plot was the story of Georgy Sadovnikov "I am going to the people", published back in the 1960s. The author took the story about the history teacher at the school for working youth from his own life, although not all of the moments were autobiographical: "".

After 10 years this story was decided to be filmed at Mosfilm. True, the script was significantly different from the literary basis. The author of the book was very surprised when he found out that they were going to shoot a comedy based on his work, moreover, many characters were changed, and some were fictional. In the book, Ganzha was an episodic character appearing only once, there was no love triangle Polina - Nestor - Fedoskin, there were no heroes Saveliy Kramarova and Irina Azer. But, despite the writer's fears, the result was brilliant.

Before starting filming, director Alexei Korenev had to overcome many obstacles. The painting was on the verge of closing even before production began. In early 1972, the newspaper published an article about the filming of a comedy called "The Adventures of a School Teacher." Immediately, the ministry began to receive calls and letters from indignant employees of the education sector: they say, this profession is so serious and difficult, but here - a comedy! Pedagogy and adventure are incompatible things! This is just a mockery of teachers and the school! Therefore, the title of the film had to be changed. This is how Big Change was born.

Andrei Myagkov was originally supposed to play the role of history teacher Nestor Petrovich, but the actor set a condition: he would participate only if his wife, actress Anastasia Voznesenskaya, was approved for the role of the teacher of Russian language and literature Svetlana Afanasyevna. The director refused her in this role, and Myagkov left the picture. Then the role of Nestor Petrovich was offered to Mikhail Kononov. He was not eager to star in a comedy about school life and did not believe in the success of this film. For a long time, the actor did not agree, but in the end he succumbed to persuasion. However, the problems did not end there.

From the very beginning of filming, Mikhail Kononov did not have a good relationship with the director. He refused to comply with his demands and once even left the set with a scandal. To continue working, the actor had to be reprimanded. The director's daughter Elena Koreneva told: "".

Alexander Zbruev also opposed the director's instructions: he flatly refused to put on a robe, not listening to the arguments that a worker cannot walk around the plant in a suede jacket. However, such episodes were still an exception to the rule - later the actors said that the picture turned out to be so bright, because a friendly atmosphere and mutual understanding reigned on the set. Actress Nina Maslova recalled: "".

Stanislav Sadalsky, Alexander Filippenko and Yuri Veksler were auditioned for the role of Ganja. The latter refused to participate in the filming and asked his wife Svetlana Kryuchkova to take the script to the film studio. There the director saw her and invited her to a rehearsal. So the actress was found for the role of Nelly Ledneva.

The further fate of the actor, for whom the role of Nestor Petrovich became a visiting card, was not easy. Mikhail Kononov: "You need to play so that you are not ashamed in front of anyone".
