They were ready to accept her at VGIK and the Moscow Art Theater School, but she chose the latter, overcoming the competition of 500 people for a place! Having learned about where his daughter had entered, the father came to Moscow, went to the rector and asked him to expel Tatyana, so as not to "spoil the girl's life." He loved her very much, but he was sincerely sure that she had chosen the wrong path.

Having successfully completed her studies, Tatiana became an actress of the Moscow Theater of Satire. Despite the fact that no one doubted her talent, the teachers did not seem to know what to do with her - it seemed to them that she did not correspond to any of the acting roles, and she got only tiny episodes without words. Tatyana Vasilyeva believes that she took place as an actress thanks to the chief director of the Theater of Satire Valentin Pluchek, who was the first to draw attention to her extraordinary talent. He used her in many productions, which later became famous motion pictures. It was thanks to these films-performances that the audience saw her for the first time on the screens. In the theater, she was urged to change the discordant and difficult to pronounce surname Itsykovich to some loud pseudonym. The problem was solved by itself when Tatyana married the actor Anatoly Vasiliev and took his last name. Later, she regretted it, but nevertheless kept her for herself even after 14 years later, she and her husband broke up. In the first half of the 1970s. she was mentioned in the credits of films as Itsykovich, but the whole country soon recognized her as Tatyana Vasilyeva.

Tatyana Vasilyeva became for Valentin Pluchek not only an obedient student and beloved muse - the actress did not hide the fact that they had an affair, although the director was 38 years older than her. The debutante got the main roles in all productions, and for this she was disliked by other actresses. The only thing that Pluchek reproached her with was the decision to make a temporary pause in her career when her son was born. Then the director said in his hearts that she died for him as an actress. But Vasilyeva said that her career faded into the background for her when it came to children.
