Belgian photographer Fricke Janssens has decided on an unusual project. She photographs people of all ages in smart clothes with beautifully styled hair, and then processes the pictures in a photo editor. It would seem that there is nothing remarkable - an ordinary photo session. However, there is one detail: Janssens is looking for the perfect angle to shoot on … the tombstone. The name of the project is simple, but accurate: Your last shot ("Your last shot").
The funeral service has been around for a long time. Many unscrupulous persons order their coffins in advance and think over the farewell ceremony in detail. Of course, there were also those who, ahead of time, worried about choosing a photograph for the tombstone. And it’s not surprising that there were a lot of such people. For a far from modest fee (about $ 1000), the Belgian photographer offers a whole arsenal of services that will help the client to look perfect in the "last" photo. A whole team of professionals worked with Janssens - make-up artists and stylists, ready to fulfill any whim of the customer.
“Usually the relatives of the deceased are faced with the need to quickly find a 'suitable' photograph. Often their thoughts are occupied with completely different questions, they are devastated and heartbroken, and therefore do not think about the quality of the photo and about whether their deceased relative would have liked it, "says the photographer." That's why we decided on this project. You only live once".
Janssens loves provocative projects. When Belgium banned smoking in public places, she took a series of photographs of children smoking. Although for filming the children were given not cigarettes at all, but cheese sticks - the photo project had a considerable resonance.
