Here we use mobile gadgets, control them using a touch screen and do not even know that in this way we draw dozens of virtual pictures every day. And here is the artist Evan Roth figured it out! And based on this understanding, he created a series of unusual paintings with a common name Multi-touch Finger Paintings.
Mobile phones have recently become both subjects and objects in art. An example is the animated film Gulp, shot in the sand with a Nokia N8 phone, a street art exhibition in which you can use your phone to read QR codes that are links to masterpieces of fine art, or an art project to desacralize gadgets from a corporation Apple, including the iPhone. And the artist Evan Roth uses the touch screens of mobile phones as the basis for his paintings.
Rather, it uses the movements of human fingers when working with these touchscreens. After all, just as QR codes can tell about art, so fingerprints can become art in themselves, given the meaning they carry.
So Evan Roth created a series of paintings in which he depicted the movements of his fingers when performing various functions when working with a mobile phone with a touch screen. For example, one of the paintings from the Multi-touch Finger Paintings series (Drawings with fingers using multi-touch) depicts a fingerprint when unlocking the phone, another - working with a calculator during the addition operation 12, 345 + 6, 789 =, the third - traces when working with e-mail, the fourth - traces when working with the short message service Twitter. There are also pictures in this series showing fingerprints when typing different phrases, for example, "Sent from a device with tiny keys" or "Hello World".
Someone, of course, will say that the work of Evat Roth has little to do with art, but they will be wrong. Indeed, in the paintings of the Multi-touch Finger Paintings series, the artist creates a cast of our today's reality, in which the virtual, digital part is no less important than the real one!
