"My paintings are about life, struggle and beauty. They are unusual, emotional, lively. I try to achieve this by combining a variety of words, pictures and gestures on canvas," says American artist Greg Gossel about his works. He says that in his work he is interested in the very process of creating a picture, so he is not guided by the final result, and never knows what will turn out in the end. As a result, we get very peculiar works, a kind of mix of pin-up, street art and retro style.
Greg Gossel creates intuitively, impulsively, which makes his work just as "torn". A little sloppy, a little hasty, a little careless, but this is their peculiarity, their charm.
The special style of multi-layered, multi-level painting helps the author to create the illusion of "picture in picture". It seems that once under a layer of ads, posters, leaflets and other tinsel someone hid a real work of art, but if you just erase the top layer, the masterpiece will appear to the world in all its glory.
Greg Gossel now lives and works in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and his work has been featured in a variety of exhibitions both in the United States and abroad. Some works were honored to be included in the private collections of famous foreign connoisseurs, including collectors of contemporary pop art from London, France, Italy …
