The problem of stray dogs causes so much controversy in society that, it would seem, it is high time to refer it to the category of "eternal". However, all arguments immediately subside when it comes to project "An Act of Dog" by Mark Baronededicated to these unfortunate animals. The artist has already devoted two years of his life to the fact that every day he creates portraits of four-legged, who ended up in shelters and doomed to die. Today the collection is 3500 paintings, while Marc Baron is aiming for 5500. And this is no coincidence, because exactly so many dogs are shot in the United States every day.
It is impossible to look at the portraits by Mark Baron without a deep sense of regret. Each portrait is "provided" with the date of death and the name of the killed dog. The artist's devotion to his idea is correlated with the dog's devotion to his masters, the feeling with which we humans play, not noticing that our heartlessness becomes a sentence for a four-footed friend. The project "An Act of Dog" is a kind of memory diary designed to remind people of the scale of the tragedy.
All funds that the artist receives as charitable donations, he sends to the maintenance of shelters. Mark Baron has his own website, where caring people leave their impressions of the project, supporting a good idea. One of the site's visitors recently noted that he has a sense of respect for the artist for the fact that he painstakingly perpetuates portraits of beautiful dogs whose lives ended in vain. Many believe that the An Act of Dog project could be a turning point in solving the problem of stray animals, as it is intended to remind people that there are more humane ways to coexist with those for whom we are responsible.
Not only artists, but also photographers are trying to draw the attention of the general public to the problem of stray dogs. In particular, on the site Kulturologiya. Ru we have already talked about the photo cycles of Denis Buchel and Martin Usborne.
