"Memory" - this is the word that the author himself, Gary Isaacs, described his amazing landscapes and portraits. And every connoisseur of a good photo, when looking at these pictures, will certainly remember other words: sincerity, loneliness, uniqueness, pristine beauty. To describe everything so simple but sincere photos Gary Isaacs, no words are enough.
Gary Isaacs is one of those talented photographers who manage to reach the hearts of people on both sides of the camera: both models and spectators. There are not so many really talented photographers of this kind, but we all remember the sincerity of feelings with which the black and white works of Donata Wenders are saturated, or the amazing portraits of ordinary people on the streets by Piet Flour. Such emotional work seems much more important and tedious than the most daring photo manipulations and the most beautiful fashion photo shoots.
Talking about his work, Gary Isaacs recalls a quote from the famous country singer Waylon Jennings: “First the devil made me do it. And then I continued on my own.” Gary considers the word “memory” to be the key word for understanding his works, and looking at the sad and such bright faces in his photographs, one involuntarily recalls the line from the Fleur song: “Wandering between worlds, you keep in yourself the memory of each of my incarnations”. Such and his photographs are simple and unearthly at the same time.
Of course, looking at such pictures, it is easy to guess: Gary Isaacs practically does not use digital equipment. In general, he believes that the main thing is not equipment, not cameras and lenses, the main thing is the photographer's sense of taste. In his sincere photos a lot of vintage, classic, no wonder he has been doing this for over 20 years.
The Gary Isaacs website has many sincere photos, but there is much more on flickr.

Why you need to run from nuns and you shouldn't click scissors: Bad omens of different nations
Friday the thirteenth, thanks to Hollywood, is considered a terribly bad day. Before acquaintance with European culture, the inhabitants of Russia were indifferent both to the thirteenth and to Friday - except that on Friday women were supposed to rest from handicrafts, and the Orthodox in general - to fast. "And we will bury you!" and other phrases that remained as a memory of Khrushchev and his times
For some, the period of Khrushchev's rule is the Thaw, the resettlement of communal apartments and flights into space. For some - the shooting of workers in Novocherkassk, the destruction of agriculture and persecution of the priesthood. In any case, it was a bright period of Soviet and Russian history, and it left a big mark after itself - including in our language. The Mournful Fate of White Widows, or Why Indian Women Cherish Husbands
Indian women cherish and groom their husbands. If the husband is sick, the wife fasts. The husband is never called by name because it is believed that the spoken name shortens the life of the spouse. The wife never walks alongside, but always a little behind. She addresses him to you and washes his feet. And all this is often not out of great love, but in order to avoid the fate of the "white widow"
