Psychedelic paintings affect not our consciousness, but the subconscious. To achieve such influence, at least special knowledge (scientific, shamanic and others) or serious insanity is required. From an English artist Dwayne Coleman there is neither the first, let alone the second, but our own psychedelic paintings he creates using the popular tie-dye technique, which is widely used to make … T-shirts with bright, unusual designs.
Dwayne Coleman is a young and up-and-coming artist. Despite the fact that he is only 23 years old and just graduated from the University of Westminster in London, Dwayne actively participates in exhibitions, and in 2009 he had a solo exhibition. Dwayne Coleman now lives and works in London. As the artist himself says, most of all he likes to apply new techniques in painting. At the same time, Dwayne prefers topics such as childhood, popular culture and kitsch.
According to the young artist, he was prompted to create this series of paintings in the style of "tie-dye" with a bold text by the evolution of his view of trends and subcultures that are now becoming obsolete. After a serious rethinking on Dwayne Coleman's canvas, the concepts of outgoing subcultures and trends take on an ironic sound.
It is no coincidence that the artist chose the "tie-dye" technique: it takes its origins in the style of hippie clothing. Tai-dye is a method of dyeing fabrics with bright colors, when the result is unpredictable, and therefore the thing becomes individual. The tie-dye technique reflects inner freedom and a departure from dogma. Their psychedelic paintings Dwayne Coleman uses this technique, chaotically combining bright colors.
Coleman signs all his visual abstractions with one concept word, sometimes adding an ironic comment. For example, the painting "Wow!" the artist signs this way: "The wonders of the universe collide and kill us all." By the way, the color scheme of this picture is very successful. Any of Coleman's paintings should be perceived by connecting in your consciousness (or rather, subconsciousness) the color and the word written where it simply cannot be overlooked. And from that moment our paths diverge - each will have his own association.
