Things always keep the spirit of their era. In the two decades that have passed since the collapse of the USSR, life has changed radically, but relics of Soviet life are still gathering dust in closets and closets - if you put them together, a piece of the past will revive. Photo-still lifes of Alexander Sennikov as freeze frames of the past decades: they have everything, from workers and peasants' everyday life, to the measured life of the Soviet intelligentsia.
The subject of Alexander Sennikov's works is set by things, but only the talent of the photographer and personal experience helps to recreate the scene from which nostalgia takes its soul. A whole generation of people has already grown up who never called their country 1/6 of the land, did not look with trepidation at the red banner, were not proud of the Octobrist badge and the red pioneer tie. But apart from ideology, the Soviet way of life is gone by itself. In the 21st century, a bottle of "Stolichnaya" - a veteran of the anti-alcohol company, is a thing of the past, film cameras and kefir covered with foil are a thing of the past. Only the workbench has remained almost unchanged - a craftsman will not throw away good tools. But life is changing around the world - look at 1970s Liverpool in Paul Trevor's nostalgic photo collection that deeply touches the hearts of many Britons.
The main thing in Sennikov's still-life photographs is their vitality. It seems that a worker is about to come for a simple brake, or an elderly book lover will return who put his book aside for a minute and left the office. These plots revive memories, give a rare opportunity to return to youth (like a funny Soviet pin-up).
The props for Alexander's first still-life photographs were his own things, and he hunts for "heroes" for new plots at flea markets, takes from friends, and even finds them on the street. The photographer considers it a great success to get a well-preserved copy, because many things for which 40 years ago they gladly laid out their monthly salary are no longer needed by anyone … More than a hundred Sennikov's still life photographs can be found in his gallery.

Exhibition "Free: Contemporary Art After Frida Kahlo" ("Unbound: Contemporary Art After Frida Kahlo")
Frida Kahlo is one of the first names that come to mind when it comes to women who changed the history of visual arts. The fearless surrealist has acquired an almost mythical status. At times, the amazing story of her life even overshadows the glory of her paintings, although, of course, they cannot be separated

USSR of the 1960s: Photographs of Soviet cities that provide a glimpse into the past
The 1960s were a special time in the USSR. The country had already managed to recover after a terrible war, peaceful construction was actively carried out, the "Khrushchev thaw" began, and people looked to the future with hope and confidence in the future. Today, these photos may seem naive to someone, but this is exactly what Soviet cities were at that time
Contemporary art from Konstantin Zolotarev. Contemporary Christian art or icon painting style
The icon painting style created for the depiction of saints and Christ is aimed at displaying a different reality. Therefore, in the icon, the portrait resemblance of a saint to a person who actually lived once is not in principle, since it reflects a transformed person who is in the upper world. But after all, the saints once lived on earth, they were like us, they ate and drank and had practically the same problems as modern man
