Career of a young Hungarian photographer David Nemchik originates from the entrance exams: a beginner photographer had to create a photo project for admission to the university. He immediately decided on the topic, since levitation always seemed to him something amazing and very desirable. Of course, Nemchik could not create such photographs on his own, and here his friends came to his aid, who are in the pictures and soar in the air, and in the most unexpected and picturesque places. This is how David Nemchik's fascinating photo project appeared - "Levitation" (The Levitation Project) … There are many phenomena in the world that capture the imagination of artists, and people who are not associated with art, as well. One of such phenomena throughout the existence of mankind has been and remains levitation. In ancient times, only Gods could fly, then magicians and witches, and finally, heroes from comics. But still, an ordinary person learned to levitate only recently, thanks to the work of some artists and photographers.
If you descend from heaven into the real world, then here you can find out that almost every person has ever flown … in a dream. So say scientists engaged in research in the field of dreams and the effect of sleep on the human body. We can say that and David did such research, because when he asked friends for help for a project, he always began with the words: "Where were you in your last dream?"
When choosing for locations Namchik tried to find places most similar to those that his friends dreamed of. Therefore, the young photographer had to travel almost all over Hungary, but the goal was worth it. “In all the photographs, the models are in the same position in which they slept and in the places that they dreamed of. I wanted to show that even if only in a dream, a person can fly."
