In conditions of fierce competition for the viewer's attention, modern museums are exchanging old faceless buildings for unique objects of architectural art. An extraordinary architect also contributed to the creation of an unusual museum Zaha Hadid … Her latest project is the Coastal Transportation Museum, recently completed in Glasgow. Don't expect familiar shapes and lines - they're not there. But there is something to be surprised at - these are grandiose scales and intricate designs.

Born in Baghdad, Zaha Hadid has long been a British citizen. She graduated from the Architectural Association in London. For a long time, her projects existed only on paper because of their too original design. But recognition is not long in coming: Zaha Hadid received the Pritzker Prize in 2004 - for the first time a woman architect became its owner.

At first glance at the architectural creations of Zaha Hadid (including Guangzhou Opera House) it is noticeable that their author does not accept any canons. Hadid deforms his buildings, distorting perspective and abandoning standard geometry. Her favorite lines are curves. And she "sticks out" sharp corners in the most unexpected places.

Construction of an unusual museum building in Glasgow lasted 7 years, worked on it by a whole group of architects Zaha Hadid Architects. The Glasgow Riverside Museum of Transport is located on the banks of the Clyde River. The architects tried to use this location to the maximum.

The concept of the building is based on the intermediate location of the museum between the river and the city. This unusual museum has become a symbol of their dialogue and, at the same time, the "voice" of both. And this concept was embodied in a building that is a hangar with tunnels and with two exits - towards the city and the river.

According to the plan, it was supposed to build the building as if it floats out of the city into the river. It is up to you to judge how much this was possible. To the humble author of these lines, the new unusual museum from Zaha Hadid in Glasgow with its bizarre shape reminded of an iceberg - also, by the way, a free-floating object.
