There are many films that, although they do not fall into all sorts of ratings and tops, do not receive critical acclaim, but at the same time they appeal to the audience and become a kind of classic that is pleasant to watch. And there are those who were undeservedly called good, had great ratings, which today are falling apart like houses of cards. And it is about such overvalued paintings that we will talk today.

1. "Green Book"

Just recently, this film became the best according to the version of the Academy. He received more than one award, and everyone did nothing but talk about Ali Mahershal, and also hoped that the film would win the award for best screenplay. Note that on the Rotten Tomatoes website, the film has about 78% of positive reviews, and on CinemaScore - an A + rating, which is quite rare. However, this soon changed and all the positive feedback the film received turned into negative ones. This forced the members of the Academy to abstract from what they say about the film and remain at their own, independent opinion. The main complaint about this film was the negative reaction of the family of the real Don Shirley, who was played by Ali in the film. So, they claim that they were extremely outraged by the relationship that was shown on the screen between Shirley and Viggo, which, according to the family itself, in fact did not exist at all.

Ultimately, the actor had to apologize to his family. He noted that he did not know about the existence of members of the Shirley family who could help him more correctly display his character and get used to the image. The story of the film itself revolves around Mortensen's character and also shows how he overcomes racial prejudice through his work. However, many viewers regarded the relationship of the characters as the patronage of white over black. The director of the film, Peter Farrely, in his interview later said that he tried in every possible way to avoid this and did not put such a meaning in his film. However, this does not prevent many to this day to call the "Green Book" the worst film that has received recognition from the Academy, and also to say that the coveted award was not deserved at all.

2. "Mom!"

This film had the most extensive reviews, which were both positive and sharply negative. Both viewers and critics could not agree on how to evaluate this picture. However, after its release, the film was supposed to hit the jackpot in the form of multiple Academy awards, as it was warmly received at various festivals in 2017. It should be understood that only prestigious films are brought to film festivals, which, succumbing to the criticism of professionals, receive the main reviews, after which they are either forgotten or they become cult. So, the film "The Goldfinch", for example, made a fatal mistake by appearing at the festival, because it was quite obvious that critics would smash it to smithereens.

Nevertheless, this picture was a resounding success at festivals. So, after the premiere at the Venice Film Festival, he received a lot of positive reviews, fought for the title of best film and the Golden Lion award, and also received a laudatory 68% of reviews on Rotten Tomatoes. All this indicated that the film has every chance to take the main awards, which it so dreams of. However, it was the contradictory opinion of the critics, who either praised or said that the film was absolutely mediocre, played a role. After the film was released, it became quite obvious that the audience did not appreciate it at all, and also gave it record low scores on the CinemaScore portal. For reference, it should be said that only twenty films for all the time received such a record low score on this resource.

3. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory"

There was a time when people used to literally adore this painting. Filmed by Tim Burton, it portrayed his highly distinctive take on the work of writer Roald Dahl, while also lavishly portraying the insanity of the main character, who was superbly played by Johnny Depp. In the film, the main part is devoted to the story of the family, about Wonka's relationship with his father and how they influenced his later life. For many connoisseurs of the previous Gene Wilder film, Burton's version seemed too crazy and eccentric. So, they noted that Jin managed to convey all the main features of Wonka and make him exactly the way the audience expected to see him. Wilder himself noted that he could not watch Johnny get used to the role of Wonka's character, because he was afraid to be disappointed in the result.

However, this did not prevent the film from becoming, if not the most successful, then quite acceptable. Upon its release, it received warm reviews from both critics and audiences, and also became the highest grossing film of that year. Note that the CinemaScore portal awarded him an A- rating, which, in general, is quite good. And, of course, the critics themselves noted that they liked Depp's true Burton charm, his acting, which is why they agreed that everyone should see this film at least once, which, of course, makes fans of the film very angry. with Wilder.

4. "The invisible side"

This is another film that also became quite popular, despite the fact that the plot clearly involved the racist patronage of whites over blacks. After his release in 2009, many decided that he would become an Oscar nominee, while others simply admired the acting of everyone's beloved Sandra Bullock. The film makes viewers believe that it is really as good as it is sometimes said to be. But this is not the case. Critics left very controversial reviews, however, for the most part leaning towards positive ones. Nevertheless, the fact that he was nominated for "Best Picture" was a shock to many and caused a very violent reaction from the public. In fact, it was after this film's nomination that the Oscar rules were changed.

It was in that year that the film was considered to have to get the top ten votes to be nominated for Best Picture. However, "The Blind Side" showed that the Academy remained blind to this, changing the rules and saying that now films must get into a certain number of nominations, which are calculated according to a special algorithm in order to receive the main award. Thus, this film caused a real stir in 2010 during the Oscar ceremony, however, ten years later, it is practically not remembered by either viewers or critics. It is also worth noting that in the same year Bullock received her "Oscar", which many considered undeserved and said that she got it through marketing, and not thanks to talent.

5. Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull

For true fans of the Indiana Jones series, this particular part has become the most hated. However, on the Rotten Tomatoes website, he still maintains a 78% rating, which makes him a rather ambiguous picture. The very first reviews and reviews of this film were rather mixed, and it fell somewhere between the audience's love and hate at the same time. Some people were really looking forward to the continuation of films about their beloved adventurer, and therefore, in the wake of nostalgia, they highly appreciated him. Others pointed to the film's shortcomings, such as its many plot holes, and the sudden appearance in the film of Shia Labeouf, who played Indiana's son.

In the early days after the release of the film, the reaction of the audience was rather sluggish. However, a little later there came a clear realization that the film is clearly not as good as we would like. Then the audience liked it, but in modern realities people would prefer not to see what is happening in terms of quality and logic with their favorite franchises (a vivid example of this is films about the Terminator). However, we separately note that this film became the second most popular of the year. when it came out and also grossed over $ 800 million at the box office.

Continuing the theme - which to this day cause goosebumps.
