Taiwanese President Jiang Ching-kuo, whose reign was dubbed an "economic miracle", in his mature years became an ardent supporter of ideology diametrically opposed to socialist ideology. This is a kind of paradox, if we take into account the fact that in his youth he was brought up in the family of the leader of the world proletariat Ulyanov (Lenin), was a member of the CPSU (b), and chose a Russian woman as his wife. His wife Faina Vakhreva managed to overcome the colossal difference in the culture and mentality of the West and the East and became a faithful companion in life for her husband.

Friendship with the USSR, or how Jiang Jingguo, the son of Generalissimo Chiang Kai-shek, fell into the family of Lenin's sister Anna Elizarova

Jiang Jingguo, the son of Chinese leader Chiang Kai-shek from his first marriage, spent his childhood with his mother in the small provincial town of Sikou. Leaving the family, the father still did not forget about the child. The 20s of the last century were marked by the strengthening of friendly relations between the USSR and China.

As a politician, Chiang Kai-shek adhered to the communist platform, for which he received the support of the Soviet government, and managed to use this to send his 15-year-old son to study in Russia. The teenager settled with Anna Ilyinichna Elizarova-Ulyanova, the elder sister of the head of the Bolshevik Party Vladimir Ilyich Lenin, widow of the People's Commissar of Railways Mark Timofeevich Elizarov. After the revolution, she became the main historian of her family and took up archival research on the family tree of the Ulyanov family. Anna did not have her own children, and the woman gave her unspent maternal feelings to the pupil.

Imbued with gratitude, Jiang Ching-kuo changed his name and became Nikolai Vladimirovich Elizarov, taking a surname in honor of Anna Ilyinichna, and a patronymic in honor of her brother, the leader of the revolution. Not being a blood relative of Lenin, the young man became a member of the Ulyanov family - a named nephew - and several decades later reached a career pinnacle, taking the presidency of Taiwan.

Star Trek of Nikolai Elizarov: how an engineer of Uralmash became President of Taiwan

In Moscow, Nikolai Elizarov was gaining revolutionary experience, preparing for political leadership. As a student at the University of Workers of the East, he mastered the basics of Marxism-Leninism, listened to lectures by Stalin and Trotsky, and studied military affairs. His track record also includes the Kazan Tank School and the Leningrad Military-Political Academy. Nikolai mastered the profession of a locksmith at the Dynamo plant, during the collectivization in the Moscow region, he led a collective farm. Having become a candidate for membership in the party in 1932, he was sent to Sverdlovsk to build the first-born of the Soviet engineering industry, an industrial giant - the Uralmash plant.

At the enterprise, he showed himself from the best side. While working as a locksmith, he organized the first so-called assault brigade of communists and Komsomol members at the plant (such brigades were sent to breakthroughs in production), got into the Red Book of Shock Workers, served as deputy head of the shop, edited the plant's large circulation "For Heavy Engineering".

After the conflict between the Chiang Kai-shekists and the Chinese communists, the relations between the USSR and the Celestial Empire came to naught, and Nikolai Elizarov, who by that time had managed to acquire a family, was sent home. Defeated by the communists, Chiang Kai-shek settled in Taiwan. After his death, Chiang-Nikolai headed the state and led it for more than 10 years.

Love for life: what fascinated the son of Chiang Kai-shek, a native of the Urals, Faina Vakhrev, and how their life together developed

In the Urals, Jiang Ching-kuo met his love. His chosen one was young Faina Vakhreva - blonde-haired and blue-eyed, radiating optimism and cheerfulness. The young people had a lot in common: at that time he was a poor, busy guy, she was a girl from a working-class family who was left an orphan early. Faina is a member of the Komsomol, Nikolai is a member of the party. Both are active, energetic, friendly, open-minded. Faya was fond of sports: she swam well, skated, rode a bicycle. Jiang Ching-kuo often accompanied her on walks. By that time, he was already fluent in Russian, and he and Faina easily communicated on any topic.

After a year of dating, Nikolai and Faina got married. They named their firstborn Erik (Chinese name Jiang Xiaoyong). The family lived modestly. The husband gave all the earnings to his wife, leaving her to manage the household. Faina was a good wife, completely devoted herself to caring for the household.

She did not change in the unusual atmosphere of life in faraway China, where she received a new name - Jiang Fanliang, which can be interpreted as "a correct and respectable wife." And Faina fully acquitted him. From the very first days, she began to diligently study the Chinese language, wore Chinese clothes. With respect and deference, she won the favor of her husband's parents. Fangliang followed the customs and traditions of the Jiang House and raised her children in the same way - three sons and a daughter. She hospitably received guests whom her husband liked to invite, and tried to do everything possible to make them feel at home.

Reliable rear, or how the first lady Jiang Fangliang ensured the political success of the Taiwanese President Jiang Ching-kuo

An ideal daughter-in-law, wife and mother, Fanliang also became a companion of her husband in his political activities. Starting to move up the career ladder, Jiang Chingguo willingly attracted his wife to his public affairs. And she just as willingly responded and with her usual enthusiasm helped him to raise funds, participated in meetings and demonstrations.

Jiang Ching-kuo placed special hopes on his wife in his work among women, with whom the sociable Faina easily found a common language. One of the projects of the politician was the House of Education for Orphans. Implementing this plan, Jiang Ching-kuo appointed his wife the director of the institution. Jiang Ching-kuo repeatedly repeated to his children that he met their mother in one of the difficult periods, when he was very tired physically and was mentally depressed far from his homeland and loved ones. Then it was Faina who extended a helping hand to him, warming him with spiritual warmth. And for the rest of his life, this woman became his reliable, understanding and forgiving companion.

Surprisingly, Chiang Kai-shek's second son was a career officer in the Wehrmacht, and openly disowned his father.
