On February 5, an exhibition was opened in Buenos Aires, the exhibits of which were the works of prize-winners and winners of the international photojournalism competition named after Andrei Stenin, a photojournalist for the Russia Today news agency, who died in eastern Ukraine. The Russian Center for Science and Culture was chosen as the venue for this exhibition. The opening ceremony of the exhibition was attended by such distinguished guests as Dmitry Feoktistov, Russian Ambassador to Argentina, and Alexey Volin, Deputy Minister of Communications, Mass Media and Digital Development.
In the hall of the Russian Center for Science and Culture, which was chosen for the exhibition, more than 30 works are presented in total. Olga Muratova, head of the Rossotrudnichestvo office in Argentina, said that this exhibition will run until February 18. After that, I plan to transfer the best photographs of the competition to one of the largest urban sites in the Argentine capital, the city of Buenos Aires.
Alexey Volin made a speech during the ceremony. He said that he was very glad that at the moment in the "Russian House" gathered a large number of photographs taken in different parts of our planet, the best photographers from different countries. He called this not an accidental, but a logical pattern, since traditionally Russia is used to absorbing everyone. It also happens in Argentina. This is a common feature of the two countries that makes them related.
The Russian ambassador Dmitry Feoktistov did not stand aside either. He said that modern Argentina is showing great interest in Russia and this is very good. For this reason, it is very important to organize a variety of cultural events as often as possible, including exhibitions that can tell more about the modern Russian Federation.
It is worth remembering that about six thousand works were submitted to the photography competition in 2018. They were sent by artists from 77 countries of the world. The selection of the best works was carried out in four nominations, which were: “Portrait. A Hero of Our Time”,“Sport”,“Main News”and“My Planet”. The best works were also identified in the "Series" and "Single photography" categories. Among the winners were the works of photographers from 14 countries: South Africa, Iran, Kenya, Russia, Belarus, Germany, India, Israel, Iraq, Spain, Italy, Turkey, Egypt and Bangladesh.
