For some reason people think that turtles - slow animals. Meanwhile, the ancient Greek sage Zeno argued that the turtle could not even catch up with Achilles. The speed potential of armored creatures is incredible, and they fully realize it in competitions Zoopolis-500taking place in the American city of Indianapolis. Turtle Race - this is serious!
The capital of Indiana is home to the New World's most famous race, and the oldest in auto racing history: Indianapolis 500 Mile, or Indianapolis 500 … By analogy and as a joke, the big turtle races held annually by the local zoo were called Zoopolis 500 … This unusual race takes place on May 25; admission is free (with your turtle). In 2011, the event will be significant: Zoopolis-500 turns 40. The fastest turtles in the world come together in an uncompromising race!
We cannot yet say what intrigues are being prepared this year in the undercover struggle of racers and their coaches; we will only talk about how everything usually goes. At 10 am, all the participants are already on edge: turtles are digging the ground with their paws with impatience, and their sponsors are holding the bit. At 11.30 the signal for the competition sounds, and, knocking down the barriers, fast turtles rush forward. Participants develop speeds up to 700 meters per hour!
All riders are covered with checkered blankets; their stern leathery faces hide a real hurricane of passion. Hundreds of excited spectators watch as they sweep past them. speed turtles - circle by circle … The main announcer of the Indianapolis 500 races, according to tradition, comments on what is happening.
But here the fastest turtle reaches the finish line, and a roar of delighted shouts and applause greets her. The winner is crowned with a laurel wreath, but, in fact, there are no losers in the race: all the participants in the race will be fed with juicy vegetables and sweet fruits. Looking at the enthusiasm with which the turtles eat leaves and fruits, it’s hard to believe that only half an hour ago they were thinking only about running. Zoopolis 500 races benefit the zoo, attracting customers, and along with us: once again we are convinced that turtles are very cute and funny creatures. And fast too.

Again about turtles. Installations by James Hopkins
In the world of creativity, skulls have a special place. The works depicting them are usually quite ambiguous and cause conflicting reviews from viewers. Nevertheless, artists are not afraid of negative reviews and are happy to address this somewhat gloomy topic in their work. We've already written about jeweled skulls and even just about anything. And now here is another variation on the same theme - this time by James Hopkins
