It is the artists of other nations who can paint still lifes, depicting all kinds of vegetables and fruits, arranged in vases and trays. Americans don't eat fruit! That is why American still lifes should look the same. Anyway, this is how they look still-life paintings from an American artist Pamela Johnson.
It's no secret that Americans are one of the fattest nations in the world. More than half of the people in the United States are obese. And all because of an unhealthy lifestyle and cheap, unhealthy, high-calorie food, consumed without any restrictions.
This is the problem that the American artist Pamela Johnson is trying to draw attention to. She creates pictures that she herself characterizes as "still lifes", although, of course, they have nothing to do with classical still lifes, nor do they understand the word "still life" (literally - "dead nature"), which the photographer puts into it and artist Marian Drew (Marian Drew).
Indeed, these pictures depict typical American cuisine: waffles, chocolate bars, pizza, cakes, fast food, sweets and other products, from which a generation of nutritionists is trying to wean Americans from.
Moreover, many of these products are already painted in a far from intact form (one piece left over from a whole pizza, an open pack of M & M's). This hints that an American artist, like any other American, cannot look at food for several hours in a row without trying to eat it.
Pamela Johnson refers to her style as "hyperrealism." She claims that she makes the objects depicted in her paintings much more real than they really are, achieving this effect with deep shadows, exaggeration of scale, and unique composition.
Of course, it's a shame that the American nation has problems with being overweight and self-control when eating. But it is very good that she has a sense of self-irony, she knows how to laugh at herself. After all, awareness of the problem is already the first step towards its solution.
