Walrus is not only a sea fanged animal, but also a flourishing alpine city in Switzerland. And once a year it becomes well, very blooming, because it is at this time, in mid-May, that a bright and beautiful tulip festival is one of the most famous and largest tulip festivals in the world.
There are many such holidays in the world: in Seattle, Vancouver, Washington - and, of course, Istanbul. After all, it is from the depths of poetic Asia, through Turkey, tulips arrived in Europe. Just like tea, at one time these flowers were just an exotic oriental present, but by the end of the 16th century they became the favorites of European gardeners, from ordinary people to kings. The passion for tulips almost drove the whole country - Holland - to complete ruin: the simple-minded Dutch were so carried away by collecting and reselling tulip bulbs to each other that they forgot about real production.
It's hard to blame them for this: the variety of colors and shapes of tulips is an irresistible temptation for flower growers who compete with each other in growing more and more varieties. And almost all of these varieties come together in Independence Park the Swiss city of Walrus.
The already beautiful, ancient city during tulip festival just transforms: 30,000 square meters colorful tulips line its gardens under the majestic centenary trees. The entrance to the large exhibition is free for everyone. All weekend, that the holiday of tulips lasts, music is playing in the park and thousands of indigenous people … morruses and walrus women, as well as tourists who have come to get healthier, look at the flowers and breathe the alpine air. By the way, there is a wonderful lake next to the park, not to mention the mountains - so something like a branch of paradise for photographers opens in Morges.
Tulips v Walrus take not so much quantity as quality - some of them cost a fortune. And even though the whole sea of flowers is about a hundred thousand, and not a million, like roses in the love song of a Georgian artist - but they are not only scarlet, but also white, purple, pink, yellow, orange … And, of course, it was not bypassed without the legendary black tulip.
