Tim Witteveen is an artist who specializes in creating amazing terrariums. Made from simple light bulbs, his “green” works of art closely intertwine nostalgia and curiosity with a unique charm that is felt in the master's works.
Working on the original design of his terrariums, Tim Whittevin, first of all, tries to imagine beautiful old green parks, with semicircular arches through which gentle sunlight penetrates, and from which the ferns and leaves on the trees begin to shine. The artist tries to create his terrariums like miniature gardens in which to stroll and draw inspiration. Since childhood, Tim Wittewin loved nature walks, sitting near Lake Michigan and watching the sunset, boating, or sleeping under the open summer stars. He tries to convey his feelings through works of art, in this case, through the terrariums he creates. The living dioramas designed by Tim Whittevin represent scenes from our natural world. Moss, river pebbles, ferns, lichens, tree bark reproduce beautiful landscapes and landscapes inside an ordinary light bulb.
Currently, the artist does not sell his terrariums anywhere other than the Etsy online store. But recently he was offered to hold a solo exhibition in one of the galleries in Chicago.
Tim Wittevin has a fairly wide range of interests, he makes sketches with markers and pencils, paints with watercolors, creates engravings on glass and metal, and even takes photographs. And by doing promotional photos of his unusual terrariums for Etsy, he discovered a new interest in macro photography.
