Few people pay attention to plastic lids from plastic bottles. After all, this is, in fact, an auxiliary element that does not deserve to be noticed. But the American artist does not think so Mary Ellen Croteau, which creates artwork from such covers, including its own large-scale self-portrait.
We told you several times about artists who make their works from a variety of garbage, including plastic bottles. Examples include the Fragile garbage installation in a shopping center in Montreal, Quebec, or the Washed Ashore garbage sculpture by Angela Pozzi. We also talked about Russian philolids - collectors of plastic bottle caps. But the French artist Marie Ellen Kroto combined the passions of all these people mentioned above in her work.
Marie Ellen Kroto creates artwork from old plastic caps from used plastic bottles. Moreover, if at the beginning of her creative research she created rather simple and uncomplicated patterns, now she has quite well mastered the art she invented herself. Now she can create quite complex things with the help of plastic lids. Including his own self-portrait.
American artist Marie Ellen Kroto has been working on this self-portrait for over a month. As a result, she got a truly large-scale work, consisting of several thousand multi-colored lids and caps from a variety of plastic containers - from nasal spray to liter cans. The dimensions of this painting are 2.5 meters wide and 2.1 meters high.
Marie Ellen Kroto exhibited her self-portrait in the window of her own studio on the first floor of a building in downtown Chicago. With this picture there is an explanatory note telling that in this way the artist is trying to draw public attention to the "trash" topic.

Self-defeating People: Athletes who have reached unprecedented heights after serious injuries
Often we see only the rosy part of the life of athletes: victories, medals, records, recognition, success, fans. But few people think about the other side of the medal: in order to achieve success, athletes need to train a lot, a lot, endure hardships, push family and loved ones into the background, go to the goal through pain and recover from injuries. And it would be fine if the latter could be easily dealt with. After all, history knows many examples when annoying falls and injuries forced
For which Mary I of England received the nickname "Bloody Mary": Bloodthirsty fanatic or victim of political intrigue
Mary was the first Queen of England to rule on her own, best known as the "Bloody Mary". She received this unfortunate nickname thanks to the fanatical persecution of Protestants, whom she burned at the stake by the hundreds as heretics. But was she really such a bloodthirsty religious fanatic? Yes, she executed many dissidents, but other monarchs executed no less. Maybe the fact is that Mary was a Catholic, who was inherited by a Protestant, in a country
