To create the next collection of sculptures, the American Laurel Roth was inspired by a trip to a beauty salon. This, of course, is not a serious assumption, but the fact that the material for these sculptures can be found in the arsenal of manicurists or in a hairdresser is a fact.
So, Laurel Roth created a series of sculptures called "Peacocks" from objects that are familiar to every woman who wants to become even more beautiful. The colored plumage of birds on closer inspection turns out to be false nails and eyelashes, hairpins and sparkling Swarovski crystals. Well, if in everyday life all these accessories are designed only to complement and emphasize female beauty, then through the efforts of Laurel Roth they turned into real works of art.
According to Laurel Roth, of all biological species, only humans tend to use various accessories and devices to change and improve their appearance. And what would happen if other representatives of the animal world could take advantage of this opportunity? Perhaps they would have looked exactly like "Peacocks" by the American author.
“Through art, I try to explore the biological consequences of human behavior,” says Laurel Roth. “In my work, I combine traditional craft and handicraft techniques with non-traditional materials to study the desire of people to change both themselves and their environment.” Five years ago, Laurel left her former job in order to devote herself entirely to art. Since then, her work can be seen in India, London, New York, Miami, San Francisco.

Topographic food sculptures. Food topographic sculptures art project by Stephanie Herr
The inspiration of the German artist Stephanie Herr lies in the work of the compilers of topographic maps, in their volumetric creations, which can be called almost-sculptures, specific bas-reliefs. They need not only to be viewed, but to be able to understand and read, as one reads comics or stories written with pictures. Having studied the technique of creating relief sculptures, the artist willingly applies it in her own work, as can be seen by looking at the works from the Food topographic sculp series
