Many couples in love who want to be alone rent a hotel room for the night. The energetic duo of artists, consisting of Ralph Lagoy and Kate Leys, follow in their footsteps, renting rooms in the most creepy hotels and arranging there their unusual performances in costumes, masks, jewelry called “ Conquerors of the land of love ”, Which is an amazing mixture of pop art, surrealism and fashion photography.
Where did these Ralph Lagoi and Kate Lace come from? Future conquerors land of love studied art together at the Academy of Arts in Cologne, Germany's fourth largest city. They graduated from it quite recently - this summer, and upon graduation they decided to combine different types of the studied arts in some project. The goal is to glorify the amazing power of beauty and fashion. All this eventually resulted in the project “Conquerors of the Land of Love”, or “Love Land Invaders”.
One of the main details of this project is the variety of costumes. What other interesting performances were associated with any unusual attire? It would seem that. So many, but the only thing that comes to mind right away is the masquerade ball from Kepa Rasmussen and, perhaps, a masquerade for four-legged friends. But the costumed performances from “Lagoi and Lace” - as these energetic artists called their firm - are unlikely to ever be forgotten by the audience.
Apart from the costumes, hotels are the most important part of the performance. In this case, these are Japanese love hotels - apparently, those whose regular customers are mainly love couples. Ralph Lagoi and Kate Lace will rent a room and furnish it in some unusual way.
They dress in unusual costumes, masks, dresses and are photographed in challenging poses, creating a whole manifesto of fashion and beauty, as well as mystery and intimacy. But the concept does not end there - quite specific characters, whom Ralph and Kate gave names, look at us from the photographs. And each of them personifies something specific - the beauty of dark grace, the beauty of the game, the beauty of primitiveness, the beauty of a gentleman, the beauty of pink. The result is a conceptual art project, implicated in the idea of praising beauty and implemented by a variety of means.
According to Ralph and Keith, many things inspired them for this project: pop culture, entertainment culture, Japanese culture, especially related to surrealism, eroticism, mythology, the world of fashion. And all these sources of inspiration have one thing in common: they carry a tremendous charge of positive energy.
