American Judith Ann Braun believes that a real artist can paint not only with a brush or pencils, but also without them. And when someone questions her words, she plunges her hands into charcoal powder and then runs her fingertips across the canvas. It would seem that it is simply impossible. But how beautiful it is!
A series of paintings created in such an original way was called "Fingerings", which can be literally translated as "fingertips". Judith draws some elements with one hand, sometimes, if the canvas is large or you need to create something symmetrical, you have to work with both hands at the same time. According to the artist, these paintings are original and very simple recordings of her gestures, her body language. In addition to charcoal, Judith Brown uses pastels for such works.
Judith Ann Brown was born in Albany in 1947. He currently lives and works in New York. In addition to works made of charcoal, the author also creates traditional paintings, and recently she became interested in pencil drawings, which must necessarily meet the following requirements: symmetry, abstraction, square canvas. Personal and group exhibitions of Judith Brown's works are held in the USA, Germany, Spain, Belgium, Great Britain and other countries.
