Active discussions about the likelihood of existence Stalin's twins have been going on for more than a decade. It is suggested that at many public events the leader was replaced by people who were similar and disguised as him - living targets in the event of an attempted murder. The need to use doubles appeared after the conspiracy was revealed, imaginary or real - it's hard to say. Despite the doubts of many historians about the reliability of such information, eyewitnesses claim that there really were doubles. One of them is an actor Felix Dadaev - shares memories of his secret mission.
The fact that he had to play the role of Stalin's double, Felix Dadaev was silent for about 50 years, he first admitted this in 1996, when the secrecy label was removed, and officially indicated his occupation in his autobiography only in 2008. Gazavat Dadaev was born in 1923 in Dagestan. Since childhood, he was engaged in dancing and toured as part of the Lezginka ensemble, and later - the State Song and Dance Ensemble of the Ukrainian SSR. He took a new name - Felix - during the war, in honor of a front-line friend who died in battle. Although he served in a concert brigade, he had occasion to do reconnaissance and take part in battles. As part of the concert brigade of the 2nd Belorussian Front, Dadaev reached Berlin. After the war, he worked as an entertainer, dancer, artist of the spoken genre, was artistic director of the Theater of Miniatures at the Far Eastern Military District, wrote feuilletons. Until recently, this was his official biography.
In 1996 it became known that it was not Stalin who actually starred in the newsreels, but Felix Dadaev. Disguised as a leader, he read reports and took part in rallies and various cultural events. His secret work began in 1942, when, after another wound of Dadaev, his family received a funeral. He was considered dead, and at this time the special services, noticing his resemblance to the leader, recruited him and prepared him for a special mission. The main problem was that the young guy had to portray 60-year-old Stalin. Therefore, he was put on makeup, taught to copy facial expressions, demeanors, gait, voice. “I had coincidences with him in height, voice, and nose. And I looked much older than my years, because I matured early,”explained Dadaev. For more similarity, the actor had to gain 11 kg.
Dadaev had been trained for several months. He signed a nondisclosure agreement, and he was prohibited from communicating with his family. The newspapers recently wrote that the double was prepared at Stalin's dacha, and that he personally supervised his preparation. However, the artist admits that these are the inventions of journalists. There were no personal meetings with the leader at the dacha; NKVD officers worked with him.
Stalin was terrified of conspiracies and attempts, so all his trips and official visits were planned as follows: a car was waiting for him near the front entrance, into which a double sat, and the real Stalin at that time got out of the back door and drove in a different direction. Felix Dadaev, according to his confession, took part in such distracting trips. He also replaced Stalin at holidays, meetings and parades. So, the actor claims that it was he who stood on the mausoleum during the parade for the Day of the Athlete and greeted the athletes passing by. Later, Dadaev starred in the newsreel instead of Stalin, read reports and even talked with various delegations.
Despite rather detailed information about his secret mission, Felix Dadaev and his memories do not inspire confidence in some scientists. Doctor of Historical Sciences, leading researcher at the Institute of Russian History of the Russian Academy of Sciences Yuri Zhukov says: “Nonsense and nonsense! Stalin did not have any doubles, because he did not need them. What for? Well, if he appears at best once a year for a few minutes, why is there a double? These are notions of recent years."
