The work of Michael Parkes, an American artist belonging to the genus of hippies, is usually called an enchanting, magical and unusual world in which a special atmosphere reigns, and mythical animals and other creatures live outside of time and space. And this is not surprising, because Parkes is inspired by the Eastern philosophy, which he imbued, traveling across India in search of answers and truths known to him alone.
Whether the long search for enlightenment was crowned with success, and whether the maestro found all the answers, is unknown. One thing is extremely clear - after Indian travels and studying the philosophical doctrines of the East and West, Parkes's perception of the world around him has changed significantly.
By the way, despite the fact that the characters depicted in the canvases of Michael Parkes are imbued with the spirit of ancient Eastern wisdom, including Tantrism and Kabbalism, they still found their embodiment in the forms created by the author's imagination. And this is their uniqueness.
Half-naked winged women, outlandish animals and birds, as well as other characters, as if descended from the screens of fantastic cartoons - all this is the population of the magical world of Michael Parkes. Obviously, this world was opened to him by eastern spirituality, or maybe he was peacefully dozing all the time in the author's subconscious, and now he took the opportunity to splash out. Today, almost all of Michael Parkes's paintings are kept in private collections. An online gallery of his works can be viewed in the ArtGame album.
