Advertising campaigns, the "reason" for which is the world politics, necessarily cause a wide public resonance, since it is often simply not possible to ignore them. Here is a series of posters business publications Mercado Magazine was no exception: bold pictures, which "lit up" Silvio Berlusconi, Angela Merkel and the Pope, caused a real sensation.

The idea that our perception of reality is always subjective is as old as the world. Recently, we have already talked about the political advertising of the British edition of The Guardian, in which it was said that if you change the view of the problem, you can see its true causes. Mercado's advertising affirms the idea of the “relativity” of the merits of certain individuals in the political arena.

The heroes of the posters, created by the Argentine advertising agency JWT, are the most famous world politicians (ex-Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi and German Chancellor Angela Merkel), as well as the newly elected Pope. The advertisement says that for his friends Silvio is a completely ordinary person, although half of humanity perceives him as a mafioso, and the second as a cheeky stripper. The personality of Merkel caused even more scandalous associations: they say, the Greeks see her as the second Hitler, while the Spaniards idolize her, like Mother Teresa. The Pope is also perceived differently by everyone: for Muslims he simply does not exist, but for representatives of sexual minorities he is akin to a caveman.

It is significant that in each image, along with three typical images, a fourth “blank” image with the inscription “For You” is left. This is an opportunity for the reader to state his own point of view, which does not always coincide with the generally accepted one. The poster series emphasizes that the concept of Mercado is aimed at providing readers with reliable and objective information that will allow them to draw their own conclusions.
