Artist Su blackwell does not just breathe new life into old books, but creates fantastic worlds on the yellowed pages. She is called a "book sculptor" and an outstanding talent of our time, because with the help of a thin blade and glue, the author tells exciting stories, imbued with the spirit of mysticism and melancholy.
The first paper fairy tale was born to Su blackwellwhen she traveled to Thailand immediately after graduating from the Royal College of Art. Then the artist was fascinated by the topic of reincarnation and studied Chinese myths about the reincarnation of human souls into the body of butterflies. The girl caught sight of an old battered book - and with the help of an ordinary paper knife, the artist created a complex multi-layered sculpture on its pages.
The author says that carving paper sculptures is like meditation for her. The girl prefers to work in her small studio, not turning on the music and plunging into silence. The artist continues to draw inspiration for these works of art from myths and old tales. She is convinced that the fairy-tale works she creates are intended more for adults than for children.
In college Su blackwell she was interested in the art of jewelry, so working with miniature compositions is to her liking. First to paper sculptures the brush with paint has not been touched, but the latest creations of the author are distinguished by an amazingly deep and sophisticated color scheme.
