Technological progress in the 21st century is moving forward by leaps and bounds: inventions are becoming obsolete at such a rate that not everyone can keep up with this rhythm. The latest technology is invading our daily lives, making it brighter, more fun and often easier. In recent years, digital photographs have almost completely replaced paper photographs, but it turns out that their age may not be long: soon humanity has a chance to move from images to three-dimensional figures.
The idea of creating tiny "copies" of people has been in the air for several years now. Not so long ago, on the site Kulturologiya. Ru, we wrote about a cafe where they make gelatinous copies of visitors using a special scanner that remembers the proportions of the body and facial features. But the Hamburg studio TWINKIND decided to tackle a more durable project: figurines made in the image and likeness of the customer are not at all edible, they can be placed as souvenirs on bookshelves or on a desktop.
The TWINKIND studio project is commercial: everyone can purchase a realistic sculpture, the height of which will be from 6 to 14 inches. True, the pleasure is not cheap - the production of one figurine-portrait costs about 225 euros. To achieve maximum similarity, the customer undergoes a full 3D body scan, which is absolutely safe for the human body. If you wish, you can take any pose that you want to capture. The results obtained are used to make a model from polymer plastic.
It takes from two to five weeks to make the statuette, depending on the complexity of the work, and also because the demand for such a service is great, while it is not yet possible to turn it into mass production.

Why did people in Venice throw people straight into the sewers?
Today, thousands of tourists walk across the bridges of Venice every day, but there were times when it was better to stay away from them - for about a year, during the fall and winter, zealous fights were arranged on these narrow bridges - and not just one-on-one, but whole crowd against another crowd of the same kind
Simple and straightforward. Schematic portraits of famous people in the Simple Public Figures project
"And I recognize a sweetheart by his gait, he wears, wears breeches …" And I also recognize a neighbor by his barrel-shaped figure, a thin and tall classmate by eternal stilettos, a fellow student by a pointed-nosed profile … And also by details I recognize and those who every day flicker in various plots on television: well-known personalities have enough identification marks. Therefore, a celebrity can be identified without even seeing her face - by the unchanging, traditional, characteristic of this particular person
People and money, people made of money. Art project Big Business from SenseTeam
The Chinese creative agency SenseTeam presented a symbolic art project at the Asia award 2011 exhibition, which consisted of several huge portraits of people. These portraits from afar resembled patchwork, but upon closer inspection, they turned out to be … collages of money, of a variety of currencies. At the exhibition, they appeared under the name Big Business
People and animals, or people-animals. Shocking sculptures by Kate Clark
Healthy as a bull, fat as a hippopotamus, stupid as a ram, dirty as a pig, stubborn as a donkey … as well as possible confirm the fact that we have not gone so far from the animals. At least in habits and behavior. And sometimes in a way of life, it is not for nothing that one who works at night is called an owl, and an early bird a lark … In sculptural installations am
People, people and again people. Drawings by John Beinart
If you only have a couple of moments to get to know Jon Beinart, then, glancing over his paintings, you will see black and white portraits or several human figures. But the drawings of this author are nevertheless recommended to be considered more thoughtfully and more carefully: and then you will see that in each image there are tens and hundreds of people, who can be peered at for hours
