The Victorian era had a huge impact on the twentieth century that followed. And in the twenty-first century, a fashion for the Victorian style even appeared: in clothes, in design, and steamp-punk is a tribute to the second half of the nineteenth century. And the artist Mike Doyle creates from LEGO bricks Victorian houses … But not ordinary, but abandoned, crumbling.

Many artists around the world are using their talents to bring back life to abandoned homes and neighborhoods. An example is Luisa Alvarez, who revived an abandoned house many years ago with light installations, or NUART, a year-round street art festival in an abandoned neighborhood in the Norwegian city of Stavanger.

But the artist Mike Doyle does not restore abandoned houses, but creates them. But not real houses, but toys made from LEGO elements. For example, he recently presented his new, record-breaking work - an abandoned Victorian house made from more than a hundred thousand LEGO bricks.

This house is just one of several houses (at the moment, there are already three) that make up a series of works by Michael Doyle. One, but the biggest one. Its dimensions deliver 1.7 meters in height and 1.8 meters in length. Impressive!

It took Michael Doyle about 600 hours of painstaking handmade work and approximately 110-130 thousand LEGO bricks to create this house.

Moreover, this house was made exactly abandoned, crumbling. By this, Michael Doyle wanted to emphasize that many Victorian houses that have survived to this day, despite their beauty and architectural splendor, are now in very poor condition.

To heighten the effect, this house is made in black and white, it is built with LEGO bricks in black, white and gray. So the photos of this amazing creation by Michael Doyle that you see, reproduce its natural colors, and not artificially made in black and white using a camera or computer.
