Most modern cities cannot boast of a predominance of bright colors on the streets - they are gray and nondescript. The American artist decided to change this situation with her own hands. Tasha Lewis … She travels around the United States and arranges in the settlements of this country Butterfly attacks.
Butterflies are one of the most beautiful creatures on Earth. It is not for nothing that even the expression is "butterflies fluttered inside", denoting the sudden arrival of love. That is why artists around the world use the image of these insects in their work. Examples include black moths from Carlos Amorales or new wings for injured butterflies from Anne ten Donkelaar.
And the American artist Tasha Lewis generally began to use butterflies as a symbol of the struggle for the beauty of the surrounding world. For example, she travels to cities in the United States of America and decorates them with hundreds or even thousands of artificial flying insects.
Tasha Lewis arranges real butterfly attacks on these cities. She pastes them over fences, walls of buildings, poles, trees and many other objects, including garbage cans.
In doing so, she uses artificial butterflies, created by her from cotton fabric. And the blue color is given to them by a special printing method - cyanotype.
This type of printing was widespread in the late nineteenth and early twentieth century due to its low cost and speed of production. Subsequently, it was practically forgotten due to the fact that the drawings applied in this way turned out to be very short-lived. And from the technology itself in the public mind there is only one word "blue".
But Tasha Llijus decided to resurrect the cyanotype. Moreover, to do it on a large scale, at the same time bringing a little more beauty to the streets of the same type of gray American cities.
