Australian Emma Hack is known primarily as a master of body art. But it turns out that people are not the only "canvas" on which the artist is ready to draw: animals also make good models, as evidenced by the series of works "Cowscape".

The idea to work with cows came up unexpectedly to Emma Hack. Having once visited an exhibition where sculptures of these animals were made of fiberglass, the artist decided that it would be nice to organize an art project with the participation of real, live cows. No sooner said than done. In the Cowscape series, Emma Hack painted the sides of Australian cows with surreal images.

By the way, the Cowscape project is not just an indulgence of the artist's whims. In this unusual way, Emma decided to draw public attention to the problem of drought in South Australia, which is making the situation of many farms extremely dire. “No water - no pastures - no cows - no milk” - such a logical chain can be traced in a series of drawings by the artist.

Emma Hack is insanely popular in her native Australia, as evidenced by the number of her solo exhibitions: in 2009 there were seven, and in 2010 - already nine! Therefore, if you have not seen the artist's works on the human body, then we recommend that you familiarize yourself with them: either by reading article on our blog, or by visiting the official site Emma Hack.
