Many of us are wondering how to make the world a better place, and are very tormented when we come to the conclusion that nothing can be done. The famous designer Wendy Gold decided to approach this issue in a figurative sense: she made several of her own options perfect worlds in the form of vintage globes.
Of course, using something atypical to create sculptures or paintings is one of the fundamental trends in contemporary art. Well, who, for example, can name someone other than Paul Hazelton, who would make sculptures out of house dust? Or, say, someone besides Jennifer Maestre who would be doing sharp pencil sculptures? So the designer Wendy Gold chose as canvases that which was almost never used - in fact, the entire globe!
Wendy Gold is a woman quite well known in the design world, primarily for her incredible toilet seat designs. But then she came out of the bathroom and began to create perfect worlds … The globe itself is a symbol of romance, travel, adventure. Wendy expanded the scope of understanding of this symbol, adding superheroes, rock and roll style and other interesting things there. Truly, Wendy knows how to shake this world up.
Wendy Gold graduated from the University of Industrial Arts (seemingly must have something to do with industrial design) San Francisco in 1995. The first major project is the already mentioned toilet seats, called Art de Toilette.
You can read about Wendy's numerous projects on the website.
