In the past, an artist was impossible without a palette and easel. Now, in order to be called an artist, you just need to be creative, no matter what. So, at times, artists make things for artists. For example, a carpet "Palette" as a palette created Sophie Lachaert and Luc d'Hanis.
Professional deformation is a phenomenon when work influences a person so strongly that it specifically distorts his personality. A person does not see the difference between work and the rest of life, and accordingly relates to people and the reality around him. Here, artists are very often subjected to such a distortion of personality. After all, their very life often becomes a continuation or even part of their work. And even ordinary, everyday household things become subordinate to the general artistic design.
Take at least such a decorative element as a carpet. What should it look like in an artist's apartment? Sophie Lacher and Luc D'Anis think it should look like a palette. They even created a similar carpet for clarity with the name "Palette", which, of course, translates exactly as "palette." Influenced by classic Italian frescoes with their blurry pastels, this carpet was created with 950,000 knots in 266 different colors, which took almost two years.
Even members of the We Make Carpets art group, who also create very original carpets, can envy this hard work, diligence and talent. And, besides, the “Palette” carpet itself, unlike the carpets of their authorship, can not only be looked at, but also used for its intended purpose. exhibition Maison Objet in Paris from 21 to 25 January this year.
