Video: The breath of cities and atypical portraits through the lens of Anton Tolmachev

Anton Tolmachev an original photographer who denies the notions of ordinary and ordinary, standard and cliches. Opening his works to the public, he, like the genius Miller, fills them with symbols, which only slightly pushes you to some conclusions - you must see, find and speculate on all their depth on your own. For him, a photo is a kind of definite book that you can not just contemplate, but find meaning in it. Which? The photographer invites each person to think about this separately.
It is difficult to attribute his photographs to one style - avant-garde, fashion, glam, new age, and speaking about his works, Anton notes that the main thing for him is to show his view of things. “Photography is an expression of the improvisation of my imagination. A photo can never be for me something consciously sculpted, thoughtful. With rare exceptions, this is always a discovery and a look at things from those sides that until now were not available to me."
Anton Tolmachev is an experimenter who always wants to get around the boring and monotonous. Of course, genres loved by all photographers, such as portrait or landscape, are no stranger to him, but even in them he prefers to find a "zest", to show his vision of familiar pictures. Traveling with a camera, my interlocutor discovers for himself and for the viewer a new view of the familiar streets of various cities, “provincial” expanses and mirror cities. But in his works there is no sense of "standing still" - city landscapes come to life, find their individuality. “There are imprints of history and events in my photographs: I love to travel - that's why everything new around me is reflected on the film. I also adore new acquaintances, people in general - this also gives a certain flavor,”says Anton.
His line of "Atypical portraits" seems to be quite different. Try to look at yourself from the inside, forgetting about the standard settings "only front, full face and profile." Let's look deeper into the hidden parts of the soul: “I want people to be able to see themselves“on the other side of art”. So many people have adjusted their self-esteem, saw themselves in a new light, giving their personality a certain, unfamiliar, meaning and value."
Perhaps it is worth forgetting for a while and looking at yourself from a different angle. Maybe something fresh or just seen and realized again will help to change oneself, to discover a new trait of one's personality. After all, we are multifaceted and, most importantly, do not forget about it. Other works of Anton Tolmachev can be seen in his VKontakte group A. Tolmachev // Photography.
