In the Every Living Thing series, Australian photographer Marian Drew uses elements from 17th century European painting that contrast the violent death of animals with the best still life tradition. Lifeless bodies lying on the finest thin canvas - these pictures are silent, disturbing and exciting.

Killed by cars on the roads, or electrocuted, strangled by pets, animals and birds in Marian Dru's photographs are a common and familiar fact of urban growth and increasing consumer demand.

In 2002, the Australian artist left for Germany, where she studied still life painting. Upon returning home, all new ideas were embodied in an unusual series of photographs "Every Living Thing". By imitating the historical forms of still life painting, and replacing paint with photographic means, Marian Dru creates paintings that combine the past and the present, photography and painting, while exploring the modern concept of death and the changing attitude of today's society towards animals.
