Celia Smith is a talented artist, but instead of a pencil, you can usually see a thin wire in her hands. Of course, in fact, she creates sculptures, but Celia herself assures that she is drawing - just her drawings are voluminous, and instead of pencil lines, there are wire turns in them.

The main theme of Celia Smith's work is wild and domestic birds that can be found in Britain. The author tries to convey not only their appearance, but also their movements and character. To do this, Celia spends a lot of time watching birds, studying information about them and making pencil sketches. And only when the author begins to think that she knows everything about the chosen object, she picks up the wire and proceeds to create a sculpture in full size.

Celia Smith's sculptures can be safely called eco-friendly, because the author usually finds material for them in scrap metal dumps. A telephone wire is most suitable for work: it is a pleasure to create from multi-colored thin wires! According to the sculptor, of all the materials, she preferred wire because it has a spontaneity that brings sculptures to life and gives them energy.

Celia Smith was born into a farmer's family - hence her passion for nature in general and birds in particular. She graduated cum laude from the Wimbledon School of Art with a Bachelor of Arts in Sculpture. The sculptor's work can be seen at exhibitions in London as well as throughout the UK.
