Young fashion designer Jule Waibel creates complex sculptures, accessories and even dresses from paper. Yule's special folding technique turns ordinary material into impressive three-dimensional objects that can be compressed and easily reshaped.
“Life is a journey, and objects that can be formed reflect the variability of our world,” explains Yule. “I use folding a lot in my art. The result is amazing things: dresses that change shape according to body movements, bags that expand, folding umbrellas … All these items are elegant and beautiful, and they also add movement to everyday life,”says the designer.
Yulia chose Tyvek wear-resistant synthetic paper as the main material for her work. It is often used for the manufacture of workwear and especially durable printing. However, paper is not the only material a designer works with. So, for example, for series of twenty five dresses, which during the sales period flaunted in the windows of Bershka flagship stores around the world, Yulia worked with light chiffon.
The designer easily plays with objects of the surrounding world, fashion trends, geometric shapes. Her works, inspired by the Bauhaus style and everyday aesthetics, are incredibly beautiful and unusual - visitors to her solo exhibitions and fashion shows are impressed by what they see for a long time.
The designer currently lives and works in London. In 2011, she graduated from the University of Applied Sciences (Schwäbisch Gmünd) in her native Stuttgart. In the same year she moved to London, where she received her master's degree from the Royal College of Art. In London, together with her brothers, she founded the company VIOVIO ltd., Which specializes in tailoring fashionable clothes.
