After the city authorities canceled the concert of rock musician Marilyn Manson in Novosibirsk, the prosecutor's office received an appeal on this matter about the need to check this fact. The appeal was sent by fans of the musicians, according to whom the city authorities, using their powers, acted in the interests of various religious associations.
The performance of Marilyn Manson, as well as his musical group, was supposed to take place on Novosibirsk Day - June 29, however, due to the rally by Orthodox activists, the city authorities banned the event due to the promotion of homosexuality, offending the feelings of believers.
The main complaint of the Christians who opposed the concert were the texts calling for violence, promoting drugs, etc. Viktor Zakharchenko, who was organizing the performance of the famous musician in Novosibirsk, brought the lyrics to the Novosibirsk Region Sports Center, where they could not find anything bad in the songs, but the concert was never took place. He does not leave hopes to understand the current situation according to the law.
The participants in the new rally expressed a desire to create a social movement that would be able to set aside the interests of citizens with a liberal mood. In the future, they want to include representatives of this movement as expert consultants in public city councils under the local government.
During their protest, fans of Manson's work called on the authorities to give permission to hold the concert and provide a venue for it if the musician wants to come to Novosibirsk with a concert.
Anatoly Lokot, the mayor of Novosibirsk, said that the procurator sorted out the lyrics of the songs and did not find anything offensive in them, but with all the desire, the musician's concert could not be held due to the heavy load on law enforcement and city services.
Before the concert in Novosibirsk, a rock artist was supposed to perform in Moscow at VDNKh. However, even here it was thwarted by an anonymous call warning of a bomb planted.
