If a person is talented, then he can create a masterpiece out of anything. Japanese Yuken Teruya is an example of this. He carves stunningly beautiful trees from toilet rolls, newspapers and paper bags. At first glance, the glossy surface of the bag looks like it has been eaten by a moth, but upon closer inspection, the exquisite silhouettes of trees become noticeable.

Yuken Teruya received his BA from Tama Art University in 1996, after which he entered the Visual Arts High School in New York, from which he graduated in 2001. Yuken Teruya's work has been featured in many solo exhibitions, including the Josee Bienvenu Gallery (New York); Shoshana Wayne Gallery, Santa Monica and Murata galleries. The artist himself finally moved from Japan and has been working for many years in his own design studio in New York.

Regarding rather unusual self-expression, Yuken Teruya admits that the idea of cutting out the silhouettes came to him quite by accident. Once the artist was ill and was forced to adhere to bed rest. Somehow, nail scissors and an old newspaper were on the nightstand by the bed. Half an hour later, the paper sheet was cut, and the newspaper itself turned into a work of art.

Further more. The newspaper was replaced by paper bags and rolls of used toilet paper. It is noteworthy that no matter what Yuken Teruya undertook, absolutely everything worked out for him and continues to work out. Readers can get acquainted with the later works of the artist from one of our past reviews.
