The most famous brand sewing machines, a business pioneer and cult among antique lovers - Singer … By the way, "singer" is German "singer" … Did the composer know about this Martin Messier? Quite possibly - otherwise, where would he come up with the idea of a light-music orchestra of sewing machines! About this performance, which is called "Sewing Machine", we will tell you.
Composer Martin Monsieur lives in and works in Montreal, Canada. The topic that has always interested him is the complex relationship between sound and image. Apart from his work in the theater, Martin Monsieur is a real master music and dance performances, which have already prepared more than a dozen for various competitions and festivals in different parts of the world, from Taiwan to Chicago. The protagonists of his new project were Singer sewing machines, which he forced to become a music band, or a choir - depending on what their voices are more like.
Technically, the project is 8 sewing machinescoordinated by a single processor (electronics helped to configure Samuel St-Aubin). During the performance, only slightly amplified sounds of the machines themselves are used - the clatter of needles, the creak of handles, the measured noise of the flywheels.
The artist called his composition "a musical installation". However, light plays an important role in the performance: flashing lamps make the action look like a sewing machine disco or an act of factory witchcraft. What is the deep meaning of the musical and light performance? Singing Singer sewing machines will prove to some that inspiration and creativity are compatible with factories. Someone will shed a tear about the good old time. Someone just listens to electronic music - sometimes it sounds scary and tense, and sometimes quite cute and positive, with a dance tinge.
The full potential of the "chorus of sewing machines" could be revealed in a suitable setting - an opera or a steampunk movie, where old vintage things would be full participants. After all Singer sewing machines - this is a whole era, during which they sewed for us dresses from chintz, jeans from canvas, but you never know what else! And now, retired, they want to sing - so why not listen to them?

Roller, excavator, sewing machine - unusual musical instruments by Dave Cole
Vladimir Mayakovsky suggested playing the nocturne on the downpipe flute. American artist Dave Cole is hardly familiar with the work of the Russian futurist, but he echoes it. He created a series of works in which he made a sewing machine, an excavator and other completely unsuitable objects for this become musical instruments
Ostriches from mechanical appliances
I present to the court several of my new works in the direction of technoart. I collected ostriches without the use of welding and soldering by selecting mechanisms and devices made in the USSR from spare parts. The works are mobile and transformable. The height of the birds is 45-50 cm
Mechanical nirvana: sculptures by Wang Zi Won
Wang Zi Won creates intricate mechanical sculptures of bodhisattvas, that is, "enlightened" in the Buddhist tradition. In his works, electrified figures sway regularly in a single rhythm with numerous small details, reminiscent of either lotus petals or halos. Thus, the artist helps us to look into the future, when, in his opinion, humanity and technology will harmoniously merge together
An elephant was driven along "Les Machines de l'Ile": a park of mechanical machines in Nantes (France)
Science fiction is good because it can become a reality if you want to. French decorators Francois Delaroziere and Pierre Orefice reasoned this way and created a unique amusement park inspired by the discoveries of Leonardo da Vinci (which only his drawings of a mechanical knight and a lion are worth!) And Jules Verne. The "Steam House" (from the novel of the same name), which outwardly resembles an elephant, is remembered by all admirers of the great science fiction writer
Mechanical animals: expressive steampunk drawings made with colored pens
Steampunk drawings require special skill of execution, especially if they are made with colored pens: accurate drawing of details, play of light and shadow, color overlay, all this and much more helps mechanical animals to come to life in the artist's works
