Video: Face to face: intriguing black and white portraits of wild animals

Ted Grant was convinced that when a photographer takes pictures of people in color, he photographs their clothes, but when he switches to black and white photography - captures their soul. The challenge of the Geneva photographer Alex teuscher was even more difficult: for the cycle of portraits he chose wild animals … Monochrome images made it possible for the artist to present the inhabitants of the zoo to the viewer, as they say, in a new light.
The idea of the photo cycle was born spontaneously: Alex Teuscher once revised old black-and-white photographs and came to the conclusion that modern color photography is missing something, something that is inherent in retro images. The photographer decided on a bold experiment and saw that the result met his wildest expectations.
We are used to seeing animals in the background of the environment: whether it is a wild savannah or a zoo cage. However, Alex Teuscher did it differently: he shot each animal against a black background. As a result, the viewer's attention is concentrated on the portrait of the beast, you can see the smallest remarkable details (for example, the intense gaze of an owl or the massive nose of a Bengal tiger). Of course, most of us have never seen wild animals at arm's length, or come close to them, so the Alex Teuscher photo cycle is a unique opportunity to “look into the eyes” of predators.
The author of the project emphasizes that he hopes with the help of these expressive black-and-white portraits to show people the greatness and beauty of wild animals, since the Internet makes it possible to easily distribute these pictures.
Recall that Alex Teuscher is not the only photographer who dared to work with animals face to face, we have already written about similar works by photographers Laurent Baheux and Michael Patrick O'Leary on the Culturology. RF website.

Black, white and more Creative advertising for Green & Black's chocolate
“Life is like a box of chocolates: you never know what filling you will get” - this phrase from the movie “Forest Gump” has become a catch phrase for a long time. And even if we are not talking about a chocolate assortment, but about a completely "understandable" bar of this delicacy, then there is often something to be surprised at. At least advertising posters

There is no place for wild animals in a circus, activists believe, and for several decades they have been campaigning for the refusal to use exotic animals in circus performances. However, we heard their arguments only now: just the other day, the New York City Council signed a ban for the use of wild animals in performances and thus set an excellent example to follow for the whole world
