About optical illusions we have already told a couple of times on our website, and this is a very, very interesting case. You can create amazing photographs simply by photographing the same places with different pictures or subjects, as in previous reviews. Now we will try to travel a little into the past.
The idea for such a trip came to photographer Jason Powell, who did not follow the path that previous photographers had taken. Probably, such thoughts have already occurred to someone, the idea is really worth it. The photographer found very, very old, almost ancient photographs of some places in the United States, which, of course, look completely different these days. There are photographs of both the 19th century and the 20th, but it is much more important to see them in comparison. What was then, and what we have and see now. It would be great if the photographs were taken by the author himself, but even hypothetically, he could not at the same time take photographs of the building, for example, in 1865 and then in 2009. Therefore, he used the kindly provided photographs from the Library of Congress, located in the USA …
The most valuable thing is that the photographer managed to combine photographs with an accuracy of a centimeter, which allows us to compare the evolution of architecture and … nature. Indeed, in addition to the fact that the buildings have changed, we can see a lot of differences in nature, although this is not so noticeable in black and white photography. I think each of us can create such a collection, even if it does not contain very ancient photographs. Take at least your district 20 years ago and now - absolutely different things!
