Beautiful girls and women have repeatedly served as muses for many creative people, inspiring them to create masterpieces of paintings, portrait illustrations, or photographs. British-born photographer Richard Burbridge also chose female beauty and charm as the subject of his work, but unlike all other artists, he decided to hide it behind terrible iron masks.
Photos of delicate and fragile creatures in ugly old masks were published in the Swedish magazine Livraison Magazine. A collection of unusual and slightly frightening portraits of beautiful female faces hidden behind terrible iron masks, obviously, was invented by the author for another advertising campaign. Here the contrast between the beautiful and the ugly is played up, which is further emphasized by the use of black and white photography, as well as an interesting combination of light and shadow.
In the world of fashion and advertising campaigns, Richard Burbridge's unconventional and technically ambitious photography is a breath of fresh air. He, like an alchemist, conducts various experiments in this art form, creating something unusual and unique.
Richard Burbridge began his photography career in the early 1990s. His creative, elegant and intricate photographs, shot for advertising campaigns for Chaumet, Givenchy, Hermes, Louis Vuitton, appear in such famous magazines as Another Magazine, Self-Service, Italian Vogue.
