"A man is just a grain of sand in an immense world" - this is the main idea expressed by the American by Richard Misrach in a series of works with an uncomplicated title On the Beach.
At first glance, Richard Misrach's "beach" photographs seem to be quite ordinary shots, but if you look at them more closely, you immediately notice the aching feeling of loneliness reigning around. Of course, everyone dreams of a summer vacation on a deserted island, sitting out the last "pre-vacation" days in the office, but nevertheless, not everyone decides to go tete-a-tete with nature.
Photos of Richard Misrach were taken from a bird's eye view, he watched the vacationers on the Hawaiian beach from the hotel balcony. By concentrating on only one pair, he created the illusion of an endless ocean surface and endless sands. The author of the photo project himself admits that in this way he wanted to draw people's attention to vulnerability and vulnerability to the power of nature.
Faceless figures are a kind of collective image of all mankind. Longingly, you can see a lone swimmer or the figure of a man sunbathing on a beach dotted with many footprints. Richard Misrach prints his photographs in large sizes (3.6 m wide and 1.8 m long), which ensures that they are correctly perceived by the viewer.
For the first time the idea of creating the project came to Richard Misrach in 2001 after the tragic events of September 11th. Then the author was looking for adequate forms to express his feelings and emotions. Today he “returned” to the theme “On the Beach” and presented a substantially revised version of the photo project at New York's Pace Gallery.

One grain of sand, two grain of sand: Gary Greenberg's mesmerizing macro photography
Probably every child knows that there are no two identical snowflakes in the world (and "Culturology" talked about snow under a microscope in Kenneth Libbrecht's photo project). But other micro-objects are no less amazing. A series of shots by American Gary Greenberg shows ordinary grains of sand in all their glory. If you look very closely, armed with special equipment, it turns out that we are trampling the most beautiful stones and do not even notice it
Dali, Hamlet, Pushkin and Paganini from the sand. Festival of sand sculptures "Masterpieces of World Art" in St. Petersburg
Justifying the title of the cultural capital, St. Petersburg annually pleases residents and guests of the city with all kinds of exhibitions, concerts and festivals. This year, fans of sand sculpture met the jubilee, X Festival of Sand Sculptures, the theme of which sounded like "Masterpieces of World Art"
Chicken grain by grain. Unusual portraits laid out from multi-colored beans
It's hard to believe, but it took the authors several months to create one such portrait, like those shown in the illustrations, and many thousands of multi-colored seeds. And we are talking not only about beans, peas, lentils and other cereals and legumes. For their work, the authors of unusual paintings, P Rocha, R Rocha and Malcom West, used more than 50 colors, and this is difficult to arrange using exclusively plant seeds. So they had to use Jellyb
