Parents noticed his acting abilities in childhood, and at the age of 15 he entered the acting department of the theater college at the Youth Theater on the first attempt. A few months later, the technical school was disbanded, and the students were transferred to the theater institute. So Pavel Kadochnikom became a student at the age of 15. After graduating from the institute in 1935, Kadochnikov was accepted into the troupe of the New Youth Theater.

From a young age, Kadochnikov was handsome, fashionable and dandy and enjoyed constant success with representatives of the opposite sex. His first theatrical role was Lel in The Snow Maiden, and the actor seemed to be perfect for this image. Actress Rosalia Kotovich, who played the role of Kupava in this performance, soon became his wife.

In the late 1930s. Kadochnikov began acting in films, and in the 1940s real popularity came to him. When the Great Patriotic War began, the actor came to the district committee of the Komsomol with a statement to the people's militia, but he was answered: "You are filming" Tsaritsyn's Defense "and" Voroshilov's Campaign. " Lenfilm reported that these were films of defense significance. Come back to the studio … It's a war now, but art shouldn't die. From this day on, consider yourself a soldier and do your duty … ". Later, ill-wishers reproached the actor for his insufficient desire to go to the front - he always had enough envious people.

The films "The Exploit of the Scout", "The Story of a Real Man", "The Tiger Tamer" brought the actor all-Union popularity. Sacks of love letters came to him, fans besieged him in the streets. Some of them came to his house and told his wife that they were raising the actor's illegitimate children. Rosalia reacted calmly to this: since women fall in love with her husband, it means that he is a good actor. But one day, two years after the birth of their son Peter, a teenager appeared on the threshold of their apartment, calling himself the son of Kadochnikov. It turned out that the actor at the age of 17, while still studying at the institute, became a father. His classmate hid this news from him, and only found out about Kostya's existence 14 years later.

In the mid-1960s. Kadochnikov fell out of favor with the cinematographic authorities and suddenly disappeared from the screens for almost 10 years. And in 1976, Nikita Mikhalkov invited him to a role in his film "An Unfinished Piece for a Mechanical Piano", after which the directors again bombarded the actor with proposals.

In the 1980s. misfortune suddenly fell on the Kadochnikov family: in 1981 his youngest son Peter died tragically. The cause of death was an absurd accident: Peter loved to fool around and climbed trees, so that later he could slide down the bent branches. But on that terrible day, he climbed a pine tree, the branches of which broke under his weight, and Peter fell down from a great height and crashed.

The actor plunged headlong into work, which became his only salvation. In 1981, he starred in seven films at once, in 1982 - in five: he worked for wear and tear, to complete exhaustion. And in 1984 a new shock awaited him: his eldest son Konstantin died of a heart attack. Kadochnikov continued to act in films, took up directing, but the work did not bring the former pleasure, as it became only a means of oblivion. Friends said that in the last years of his life the actor lost a lot of weight and almost stopped talking.
