In the Swedish city of Malmö, which is the third largest in the country, they decided to open a museum called the Disgusting Food Museum and it is dedicated to the most disgusting dishes. Its creators took part in the selection of exhibits for this museum. It was decided to include in the exposition dishes that, in the opinion of a European, are the most disgusting.
The museum decided to exhibit kumis. Outwardly, this product has nothing disgusting. Perhaps he was included in the exhibition, simply because few people in Europe imagine how you can milk a horse. Among the dishes, which seemed outlandish for the organizers, are the "millennial eggs". This is the name of a popular snack in China. During cooking, regular chicken eggs are buried in a mixture of rice husks, lime, ash and clay. Here the product stays for several weeks or even months. In the finished snack, the protein acquires a translucent dark brown color, becomes elastic. The yolk becomes creamy and dark, with a cheesy taste and ammonia smell.
There is still a lot of traditional dishes in different countries of the world, which are considered incomprehensible in Europe, and therefore they decided to exhibit them in the Museum of the Ugliest Food. An example of this is the guinea pigs, which are eaten in Peru; cheese with larvae of flies and waste products of these larvae, which is eaten in Sardinia; rice vodka with newborn mice thrown into it, which is prepared by Koreans, etc.
It should be noted that European countries have their own dishes, which are also considered not the most pleasant, and therefore were chosen for the museum of disgusting food. An example is surstroemming, a Swedish dish. This is the name of canned pickled herring. It is not accepted to serve it on the festive table because of a very unpleasant smell, and it is customary to eat it alone.
Interestingly, all the exhibits in the new Swedish museum will be real. If desired, visitors can touch them. Some dishes can be tasted altogether. To make visitors feel comfortable, they decided to place the surstroemming in an airtight container that prevents the disgusting fishy smell from spreading throughout the room. The Disgusting Food Museum is scheduled to open on October 31st. Visiting it will be paid and an adult visitor will have to pay 185 Swedish kronor for a ticket, which is about 1350 Russian rubles. The museum will work for only three months, after which it is planned to continue its work in the same format in different cities of the world.
