Take a closer look at your desktop (real, not computer). Surely you will find there stains from cups of coffee and tea, which once stood on it. Someone thinks this is evidence of a person's untidiness, while others, like the artist Hong Yi, look for inspiration in this. After all, it is in this way that she draws her pictures.

Coffee is a perfectly suitable material for creating artwork. For example, Saimir Strati has created a mosaic of millions of coffee beans, and Karen Eland makes pictures from cups of coffee of different tones. The Malay artist Hong Yi, on the other hand, uses in her work what others consider to be negative - traces of cups with this aromatic dark drink.

Many people fundamentally do not drink coffee, considering it one of the types of weak drugs. Someone does not drink it for reasons of poor health. But Hong Yi cannot imagine his life without this aromatic drink! Therefore, it is not surprising that it is coffee that she uses to create her paintings.

It all started with the fact that she spilled a little coffee from a cup, after which she drew attention to the traces that appeared as a result of this on the desktop. With some experimentation, Hong Yi was able to draw a simple drawing in this way.

After a few weeks, Hong Yi learned how to paint with coffee mug prints, which are already quite complex from a technical point of view, pictures. For example, one of her most recent works is a portrait of Taiwanese musician Jay Chou, a cult singer in East Asia. It was this person who was chosen not so much because of Hong Yi's love for him, but because of the song "Secret", dedicated to coffee.

Among other paintings by Hong Yi, we can, for example, mention the portrait of Aya Weiwei, the largest Chinese artist of our time, created from sunflower seeds in a hint of his installation Sunflower Seeds.
