Acquaintance
18-year-old Ekaterina arrived at the airport with director Lyudmila Borisova. Soon Ivan Mikolaichuk appeared in the waiting room, accompanied by a small inconspicuous man who was carrying suitcases. Katya at first thought that this was an ordinary porter.
While her friend was talking with the actor, Katya began to pay attention to his companion. She did not like him at all, and even seemed rather impudent. Katya asked her friend to pick her up as soon as possible. To which she laughed: this is a wonderful actor, he will help her prepare for admission to the theater institute, which the girl dreamed of.
Borislav Brondukov rehearsed with Katya the very next day. Largely thanks to him, she entered the institute and began to learn the basics of acting. And he, who fell in love at first sight with this young charming girl, sought her for a whole year.
He did not fill her with luxurious bouquets. His concern for her was more mundane. It seemed to him that his fragile Katyusha was constantly hungry and he fed her tirelessly. He could boil a whole pot of potatoes with sausages, put all this wealth in front of Katya and not take his eyes off her while she eats. Borislav was very careful about his Katyusha. In him it was impossible to recognize that inconspicuous man with whom she met in Zhulyany. He was gallant, polite, attentive, did not allow himself any liberties.
A little later, she learned from Ivan Mykolaichuk that her appearance in the life of an actor saved him from a prolonged depression. The first wife of Borislav Brondukov was diagnosed with a mental illness, he was divorced from her for medical reasons. The actor was very worried about the situation, he even began to drink.
Engagement and wedding
They began to visit Brondukov's friends together and the girl, like a sponge, absorbed the creative atmosphere of these meetings. And she, who at first considered him just a good uncle, finally fell in love with him. She increasingly began to catch herself thinking that she was looking forward to his return from filming.
In February 1969, Katya and Borislav became engaged in Odessa with the light hand of Nikolai Merezhko. She told her parents that she was going to audition, and in Odessa a table in a restaurant, congratulations from friends and a wonderful romantic evening were already waiting for them. After Ivan Mykolaichuk came to Catherine's parents as a matchmaker. And dad agreed to his daughter's wedding.
On April 30, 1969, the young people went to the registry office by tram, on which they returned to Catherine's parental home, where the laid tables were already waiting for them. And Borislav kept looking at her and repeating how beautiful she was.
Family weekdays
Katyusha frankly enjoyed her marriage. An amazing wife came out of her. She tirelessly cooked, cleaned and endlessly waited for her Bronechka. From filming, rehearsals, tours. In 1970, their first son was born, nine years later - the second. They thought that over time, a daughter would also appear in the family, but this dream was not destined to come true.
Catherine eventually realized that the actress turned out to be very mediocre from her, so she decided to devote all of herself to the family. She periodically starred in films, but her main concern remained her home. She raised her sons and created a warm and cozy home for her husband.
However, Borislav himself did not lag behind his wife. In his free time from work, he was happy to do household chores, even made furniture himself. He also loved to cook and sometimes spoiled his family with sausage according to his signature recipe on weekends.
Disease
Borislav Nikolaevich suffered the first stroke in 1984. After him, Ekaterina Petrovna had to re-teach her husband to talk. She not only treated him, but also tirelessly engaged in stage speech with him. She then managed to put him on his feet. He almost completely recovered, even started acting again. True, Igor Efimov voiced his roles.
Despite all the difficulties, he did not complain. Only once, in 1993, he approached his Swallow and said how tired he was. A month later, he was struck by a second stroke, at the railway station, when he took tickets to go to the shooting in St. Petersburg. And again she endlessly looked after him, in the hospital she sat with him around the clock and only sometimes, wallowing with fatigue, laid her head on his pillow.
And from that moment on, all the worries about the financial support of the family fell on her. Ekaterina Petrovna took up a sewing machine, began to sew to order at home, so as not to leave her husband alone for a long time. Over time, her eyesight deteriorated greatly, and she had to refuse orders. In 1996, Borislav Brondukov was given the presidential prize, for which they all tried to survive together.
And in 1997, the actor was struck by the third stroke. Then he underwent an operation to remove the hematoma. The doctors had little hope that he would survive. But through the efforts and prayers of his wife he survived again. True, after the operation, he suffered from epileptic seizures.
He could no longer speak at all, only his eyes remained so expressive that Catherine read in them all his thoughts and desires. She always saw love and tenderness in them.
Love and memory
They lived hard, but Ekaterina Petrovna never complained. She only prayed that her beloved Bronechka would live. It seems that while her eyes are burning with love, she herself lives. Borislav Nikolaevich died on March 10, 2004. Due to the high temperature, his cerebral circulation was impaired. He died in the arms of his wife, she saw him leave, and could do nothing.
Her sons, and then her grandchildren, helped her recover from the death of her beloved. But she cherishes the memory of her love. Ekaterina Petrovna knows for sure that it was Borislav Nikolaevich who was her soul mate, her destiny.
In 2008, she published in Kiev at her own expense the book "Thirteen Confessions", which collected all the confessions of Borislav Brondukov to her in love. And also his letters. He starred in 115 films. But he always considered his best role to be the role of the husband of his beloved Swallow.
Borislav and Ekaterina Brondukovs found each other to be happy. And here Yuri Vizbor I was looking for my soul mate all my life.
